This seller must rely on the gullible and stupid to survive. I bet he does it quite well too.

Well he's sold over 400 items in a month and had no negative feedback although going back he has had some.

Hachette OO Gauge, BR Mark 1 Maroon Railway Corridor Coach.

.... been collecting for years,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hachette-OO-Gauge-BR-Mark-1-Maroon-Railway-Corridor-Coach-Suit-Hornby-/121179270228?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1c36d8ec54

Been collecting for years! Or maybe just a few weeks.

The other stuff looks to have been collected for years though....

Didn't we have some previous Hatchet Jobs from this seller earlier in the month?

The mix of stuff looks familiar!

Why pay less than £100 for your O gauge coach seating when you can pay £150 – and with the pleasure of funding the ****** Gostude too?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360751177634

Retail price, brand new, would be £99.95, so for a whole 50% extra you get... absolutely nothing!

He's having a good go at cashing in.

Tower Models are currently out of stock of some of their seating sets because the chap who produces them has been unwell lately.

If he bothered to list them individually they'd probably sell quickly.

I am more concerned about his misleading listing headers. Bassett Lowke, kit built etc.

"On the 25/9/13 a USED set sold on ebay for £305.99 with faults.

This is a perfect example of a very rare and collectable item."

and you, sir*, have single-handedly validated (in some minds) the manufacturer's pricing policy.  Now, kindly stand aside, you ain't gonna profiteer by sticking it up there as a B-I-N, unless and until a true dolt comes along.

Hornby Kit-Built

In fact just about everything he's selling just now has been kit built by its manufacturer.  I need to meet GoStude and engage in extreme physical combat.  He makes me see red, and it's not those ruddy kit built boxes from Margate either.

I would expect something that has been modified to have had at least an attempt at sticking a real wire handrail across the front, etched wipers & a spot of paint on those tube bits hanging off the front...

If you really wanted a Hornby one for a collection I would have thought you would want one that hadn't been messed with. On the other hand if you want a 47 to run on a layout there are brand new Heljan or Vi-Trains 47s selling for less.

To be honest I tend to buy bargains from eBay then reduce their value further with my ham-fisted attempts at detailing:

Rough, but hey, I'm happy!

Edit to add:

yes, I know one could train scale dolphins to jump through those handrails...

Good morning all

Have you noticed a certain dealer is selling SEF flushlaze windows for £8.

Earlswood nob

I hadn't but it doesn't surprise me! People like this are the downside of the abolition of 'resale price maintenance'.

There is an up side is there?

Selling is all about providing a product at a price people are prepared to pay. A product sold at some high RRP that elicits too few sales is of no more worth than a product that is sold at a loss.

One for collector of pub memorabilia for a serious old school retro (Australian Bar) theme...

I love it!

It would be very interesting to know if any of the 'usual suspects' do read the wonderful stuff written about them on this thread! If they did, I suspect that they probably wouldn't give a ***s, if the behaviour of some at auctions is taken into account. :stinker:

This gives issue to the very true statement that 'any advertising is good advertising'. Maybe that is all we are doing. This thread suggest 'madness'. Be careful that the asylum is not this thread.
