RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted April 30, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 30, 2013 Do I not recall that Trix produced UK models to a really unhelpful hybrid scale of 3.8mm: 1 foot? If so, the claims here are a bit misleading. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Trix-Liliput-00-Gauge-Cl-81-UNPAINTED-BODY-MINT-CONDITION-Not-Hornby-/321118265978?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4ac423e27a

This guy originally listed these as Triang, I messaged him to advise that they were Trix/Liliput bodies.

Eventually produced again as Lilliput, these body shells date from that era. I have one of these shells, fitted to a Hornby 86 chassis, that I bought in the 90s when there were a lot of them being sold off.

Brand new unopened Lima cl 37 in an open box. Bit pricey for me. You can buy it now even though there isn't a buy it now button. Is this allowed? Not that I'm the eBay police... He's relisted it, along with the rest of his overpriced tat that didn't sell. No prizes for guessing how much he's reduced his prices by. Didn't Einsten have something to say about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Some of these spare bodyshells actually ended up being sold by Dapol - I remember the adverts in RM! Liliput/Trix weren't the only manufacturer to use a hybrid scale. I think Kato are still using 1/80 on 16.5mm gauge for their Japanese stock. Likewise, Fleischmann employed 1:82 and 1:85 on a number of models throughout the 1960s right through to the mid-1980s. I think someone went to the trouble of compiling a list of the compromised models, in order to help others to avoid them!

giz
They fit the Bachmann Class 85 chassis even better, less work to do all round. Mike. I'm sure they do and it would run much better too but the Bachmann 85 wasn't even thought of when I built it. In fact I don't think they had even progressed beyond the ex-Mainline stuff then. For Trix Twin, of course, scale is not really relevant. Edit for finger trouble - I can spell 'course'. Edited May 1, 2013 by Il Grifone
