RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted April 18, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 18, 2013 The Australian one must be very rare if it is indeed to 00 scale. Bernard Nah, it's Great Western (even if the gauge is probably wrong). A former GWR station being, I think, the only one in Britain from which you can regularly see black swans although a stroll into the town it serves offers a much better view of them.

For many years in the late 70s early 80s there was a black swan on the Bulbourne at Boxmoor. As only one is in the lot for sale I claim it as this one and therefore a WCML variety. Probably this should be moved to the Garden Birds thread under a subtitle of where can you view black swans from trains topic. Bernard
RMweb Gold Wellyboots Posted April 19, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 19, 2013 Is it me, or is this collectable gem a bit sort of "sunken" in a key area? Still, apparently it runs ok, so why worry? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/collectable-train-/190826567044?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c6e265584 Collectable! Brislines
I have been a customer on e-Bay many times. Sometimes I've found items on there that I simply could not find anywhere else. By enlarge I use it for the convenience. I do check prices elsewhere (when possible) and I don't often pay over the odds like some bidders do. Having said that it is tempting to hit the 'bid now' button rather than drag ones carcass here and there to shop in the more traditional ways.

RMweb Premium Grovenor Posted April 21, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 21, 2013 At least 60 years old and described as new! I remember gazing at them enviously in a local shop window when they were indeed new (and outside our price range). A few years later we had a couple of second hand ones, along with a GF Black 5 at the school Model railway Club. Unfortunately the plastic bodyshell only had about a 5 year life before starting to distort but we did get the Black 5 to run by fitting it with a Triang motor. It looks to me like the GF chassis has been removed (where is the underframe between the bogies?) and have the original bogies have been replaced by those from a Hornby Pullman coach (the pre-super detail version)? I auctioned a lot of four of these a couple of years ago and IIRC they sold for about £40, although unboxed, they were near mint with no warping! Of course it is from our Cartmel friend. I suspect that this is destined to be up for a longer time than even the notorious Gaieity pannier body. (7 years+!)
