Eggesford box
Hi Ian, hope the below of some use. Nearly gave the station manageress a heart attack as not wearing HiViz at time and she glanced up from car park and saw a strange figure dressed all in black about to hurl himself off station roof! RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted September 13, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 13, 2012 David You are braver than me going to those heights. I will have a play with those photos to see how I can get them to suit the back scene. Will be a little while before I get chance. Drinking a very nice dark beer in a brewery Thanks Ian
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted September 20, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) No work done on the layout for a while but stock trays for the locos are now under construction. They are made from mounting card and each slot is lined with kitchen tissue stuck into the dlot with a smearing of PVA glue. A small piece of foam will be added next to each cab end to stop the locos moving in transport and squash ingredients the couplings. A second tray will be needed for the last few locos leaving spare slots for new locos such as the upcoming Farish class 70. The use of these trays substantially speeds up unpacking and packing the locos at shows compared to the manufacturers boxes. Eggesford box
Excellent photos David. Where you up a signal gantry? RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted October 8, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 8, 2012 I have shown the photos to Graham, our Departmental modeller so might be able to persuade him to do the Network Rail coaches. The 37's will be fairly easy as can get the DRS decals from Lancaster City models. WIll have to see about the 31 though. Ian
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted October 22, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2012 (edited) Whilst no work has been carried out on the layout in recent weeks, a little bit of work has been done to a few new locos. A Britannia class standard has been renamed to 70013 Oliver Cromwell. This now gives us 4 mainline certified steam locos to run on steam charters. Also new to the loco fleet is the Modelbahn Union exclusive Dapol class 67 027 Diamond Jubilee. Only a small amount of weathering is being done to this superbly finished loco. RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted October 22, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2012 Jim I have a few spare slots in the stock box so might end up with that one in the near future then can run it with 66720!! Ian

RMweb Gold big jim Posted October 31, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2012 had to get a unit out of the cattle sidings yesterday, first time i've ever done it in over 2 years with chiltern! hope these are of some use to you shore supply gubbins at track level shore supply box light general clutter around the sidings sorting office yard back of the station and finally a nice little modelable train, en route from fenny compton to somewhere or other
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted November 1, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2012 Thanks Jim. Do you know what all the equipment is along side the black and yellow walkway are for? They may be too small to model but we we shall see. The close up of the light is good. They will get modelled along with the yellow shore supply boxes at some point Thats a very short freight. Not seen one that short before. That will be a train off Kineton to Didcot.. ALos I hadnt noticed that track in the foreground in the last shot was concrtet sleepers before! RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 1, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2012 the small yellow box is attached to the shore supply box, the cables that plug into to the unit are attached to it, you can see them hung on the racks either side of the box, the plug is housed inside what looks like a piece of drainpipe to keep them dry! dunno what the white box is though, could be a supply for the cleaners equipment? RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted November 2, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the info Jim. RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 4, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Not much has been done to the layout scenics for a while. However work is continuing on the rolling stock. Eggesford box
To be pedantic it is actually the up goods but strangely enough there was a gang up here yesterday surveying for a new platform so it may yet be the Up Relief! Decidedly low tech, they where using tape measures. Latest date on the rumour mill for resignalling is December 2015. I think they are planning to move all the S&C out onto the straights at both ends of the station, maybe they are using off the shelf Peco points!
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 6, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 6, 2012 David I nearly typed 'up goods' but couldn't remember which was correct so took my chances!! I suspect there will be plenty of changes coming to the area I have modelled with the planned resignalling, electrification, new car park and footbridge link but thats the risk of modelling a real place. The number of people at shows who have said the large sign on the booking hall is wrong - it got changed a few weeks after I printed and mounted the one on to the model from a photo of the one that used to be there!! RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 24, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 24, 2012 (edited) No work has been done on the layout itself recently but another stock tray has been made. The Really Useful boxes can take three trays each. There are three boxes in total but the other two still need the third tray to be constructed to replace the foam layer. The trays are made from mounting card and any delicate stock has its slot lined with kitchen towel cut t0 size and lightly glued in with PVA. Small pieces of foam are glued in at the ends of the slots to protect a locos coupling when in transit. I find that these stock trays reduce both time setting up and packing away the stock at shows plus reduce the breakages of fine detail compared to the manufacturers boxes. A few photos below of one of the boxes. Ian Edited December 24, 2012 by roundhouse
