RMweb Premium Popular Post Jason T Posted July 7, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 7, 2014 Not that I am trying to sway any votes or anything, oh no, not me, far too modest for that, but I thought I might just put up a couple of random shots of the layout for no reason in particular Austerity 90555 sits at the ground signal awaiting the off for it's return journey down the valley to Bury and Beyond. Ageing Class 23, 91486, fusses around in the yard.

BR(W)
Election fraud, eh? In order to demonstrate your undoubted even-handedness, couldn't you have added something like, "Other layouts are available"? Or my preferred, parenthetical version, "Other layouts are available - apparently." No contest, some would say ;-) Cheers, BR(W).
bluebottle
Jason, I hesitate to criticise anything about the immensely impressive Bacup, and of course I'm wary of the challenge “Well, show us what you've done, then” - indeed I cannot. If, despite that, I may comment on the coppery cast in the images in post 2580; does this result from the colour of the walls, and would a different hue alter that reflected by the layout? I have seen skies that colour, when I was clerking at the Shepcote Lane Rolling Mills, Tinsley, in pre–Clean Air Act (1968) days – God knows what state my lungs are in now, after breathing in all that toxic effluvia – but I think that those over a Pennine mill town would be rather more neutral. I can't remember whether it was William (Just William) or Jennings (Jennings Goes to School) who debated with his friends the colour of his handkerchief and finally decided on “pale black”, but something in the grey scale with a touch of warmth might be appropriate. I've taken the liberty of applying my photo processor's “instant fix” to one of your pictures - How does that compare to the layout?
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted July 7, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2014 Simply stunning photos there Jason.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 7, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2014 Hi, I must echo others who have said that those latest photo's are stunning - for that is what they are - stunning(and I voted for your layout). The WD 2-8-0 is an remarkable example of weathering, along with the wagons. All the best, Market65.
Andy Y
How does that compare to the layout? Good. Jason and I spent ages trying to get his SLR to recognise a neutral grey for White Balancing but the camera just won't have it for some odd reason. We also tried manual temperature adjustments but could not get a good compromise setting.
Popular Post Andrew P
Hi Jason, some great pics earlier my old son, but may I add a few that may have been on here before but newcomers to Bacup may not have seen. Please forgive me if I seem a little bias but Bacup runs as smooth as it looks and is just such a joy to operate. Anyway here are a few pics from my collection. P.S Don't forget to vote for Bacup for the October edition of BRM. Edited July 7, 2014 by Andrew P

Andrew P
Thanks Jaz, the view out from under the road bridge was really good for pics, unfortunately most of mine were blurred. Here a few more that I don't think have been seen before.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 8, 2014 They really are excellent photo's, Andy, of Bacup - especially in black & white. Love them! All the best, Market65.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Jason T Posted July 8, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 8, 2014 I've been messing around with the colour settings in my basic Paint Shop thingummyjig, with mixed results. A view back across the yard; a bit green. Back yards, unaltered colours. Other than the mangle that is, which I repainted to keep Larry & co a bit happier I am pretty chuffed with this one, a black & white image captured by plonking teh camera on the carriage sidings to get a view that's not been seen before (I think). I might just make this the header shot for the thread.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 8, 2014 Yes, that B&W photo' is outstanding and indeed should be the thread header shot! I've rarely seen a photo' as good as that. Excellent work and effort. All the best, Market65.
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted July 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 8, 2014 That Black and white shot of the carriage sidings is brilliant! As Worsdell Forever says, you just need to 'shop out the shadow on the back wall.
