There was a somewhat worse one round here about 10 years ago where the "County of Suffolk" pub lost a couple of letters from the first word whilst the place was closed and for sale..... Rather surprisingly it took a couple of days before anyone removed the remaining letters, though I was able to take a photo of it before they did. A chain of take away Chicken shops in Australia is called Red Rooster. Their signs used to be made up of individual letters. So often there would be a letter 'o' and 's' missing.
