The version make in association with Spitting Image had very much more thought provoking lyrics, some of which are still appropriate today, second verse could have been written for Donald

Every bomb you make
And every job you take
Every heart you break
Every Irish wake
I’ll be watching you…

Every wall you build
And everyone you've killed
Every grave you've filled
All the blood you've spilled
I’ll be watching you…

Oh, can't you see?
You belong to me
There’ll be a bill to pay
On that judgement day...

For every empty plate
And every word of hate
Those who violate
I’ll be watching you…

I remember being impressed with this at the time, and have for a long time wanted to see the words; thank you, sir!  It should be the anthem of good investigative journalism.

Many of the songs by The Police have quite dark lyrics that contrast with the catchy tunes - "Don't stand so close to me", "Wrapped around your finger" come to mind. "Roxanne" is less dark, but there are relatively few rock songs about prostitutes.

I always loved the phrasing of:

He starts to shake and cough
Just like the old man in
That book by Nabokov

There's butterfly trapped in a spider's web,

There's a blue whale beached by a spring tide's ebb...

Yeah, some of it was a bit dark; more songs should be like that, it's not a nice world.  If you want really dark, I mean serial killer dark, try Peter Gabriel.

Shut your mouth

Just drive the car

Don't say nothing

I know what you are

Don't turn around

Keep your hands on the wheel

Don't look back

This is for real...

An absolutely spot on summation of the horrors of Thatcherism.

Could be adapted to Swansea's Salubrious Passage.  I've been all the way up it, right to the very end!  It's been rebuilt since, and I haven't been up it at all since then, but I expect I could still go up it if I wanted to...

A very good case for knowing your apostrophes.

Although I'm not quite sure how useful that might be as an example for use in a Primary school.....

Did they ever find out if Muffin the Mule was an indictable offence?

I like the way the signboard has been extended to compensate for the incompetent signwriter.

Yes it is rather badly photoshopped, sign was probably one of those saying "XXX accidents" on this road originally.
