That's an old sign, must be getting on for 20 years since phone numbers were 6 digit (plus 2 for STD Code).

Not a bad name for someone in forestry, or is it the diet of the porkers who contributed to the sausages?

On a gardeners' van in our road this week was the sign "Ace of Spades".

Not to be confused with the specialist tools needed for digging up Japanese maple, Acer spades

I once worked in an office with 3 girls under me, not as good as it sounds, but I took a phone call from a Mr Treblecock one day, which had them completely helpless with laughter while I was trying to keep a straight face as best I could.

There was a Mr Glascock employed as a supervisor at a large BR railway  station in the 80s

It was said that you could see him arriving.

PADDY FIELD - CANAL DIRECTOR

From behind his desk Paddy Field can see everyone who comes in or goes out of the Canal Centre. He likes to keep his finger on the pulse of everything that is happening along the length of the canal; during the course of a two hour interview with him only once did he have to call in Tony Harmsworth, the waterway manager, for the answer to a detailed question.
