Wouldn't have been Bud Morgan's by any chance?

No!

The Broadway shop was Terry's Trains, and yes he was not a nice man.

Bud Morgan was in the Castle Arcade

As a shopkeeper myself, I view Bernard Black as a role model rather than a fictional comedy character.

As long as you don't model yourself on Auntie Wainright. :jester:

Terry's Trains, that's right.  Bud Morgan was a lovely bloke, as was Old Man Lendon, always good for killing a couple of hours chatting (and learning a massive amount about trains) on a quiet afternoon.  Lendon's is still there in Llanishen, but it's not the same; good stock of spares and parts if you know the catalogue numbers though.

Bud Morgan moved from Castle Arcade in it's later years to High Street, where it became part of the mighty Antics empire.  This moved subsequently to Wood Street and, recently, to the Wyndham Arcade, so the business is genetically still going.  We are also very fortunate to have a proper, full on, model railway shop in the form of Lord and Butler on Penarth Road.  Beatties came and went.  The tradition of slightly oddball characters is maintained by Adrian, who runs a stall for s/h toys and trains in an Antiques Emporium in the Royal Arcade; I've had some good stuff off him at decent prices (Bachmann NIB vacuum fitted 16t steel mineral 2 weeks ago for £7.70), but you do get the 'look' and a sarky 'have a nice day, then' if you don't buy anything and he's lucky I go back there after he called me a timewaster,  He's moody rather than downright unpleasant like Terry was, though, and the stock inevitably varies in quality and it's not his fault or mine if he only has rubbish at any given time; that's how the trade goes.  It's worth popping in to see what's in stock if you're passing, but I don't make a special journey.

I think you have to give the benefit of the doubt to such characters, as you don't know what has happened to them to make them like that, but not more than once!

"The key to effective meetings"

At least you would get some decisions made.

At least you've made the decision to either make a decision or not make a decision........:scratchhead:

In 2015 I was in Bampton, near Tiverton, Devon, and in the local car park there was an Honesty Box for parking, with a recommended 50p contribution. I too found it unusual but civilised, and wished the life could be more like that. Whereas I'd normally look to pay the minimum I could when parking, I felt that this approach should be encouraged so I paid £1.

I took a picture of the sign but after 30 minutes hunting through my photos on my phone, Dropbox uploads and Google Pictures, I cannot find it.

And then suddenly I find the picture.

So for completeness sake, here's the picture.

Decision making - that reminds me of a paperweight I once had on my desk at work.

Did you pinch that off the desk in The Oval Office?

So, how often did you use it; and, when you did, was it the proper decision? :jester:

It doesn't matter what sort of decision was made, the important fact is that a decision WAS made!

Unfortunately.  :scared:

A new sign!

Not a groan or whatever, but a spot of applause.

Perhaps we might get some more useful responses?

That’s the first time I’ve noticed the applause button - when did it appear?

To be honest, it was used far more as a paperweight than for making decisions.
