Rugd1022
37 672 makes for Treverrin Tunnel and Par, it sounded very good as I recall... note the signalman has already put the signal back... Apologies for the distortion in this one of '672, it's the print that's warped... Two later shots of 37 695...
Rugd1022
Missed this one off... IIRC it's 47 442, with the ex- Truro UKF Fertiliser vans.
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted November 25, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 25, 2011 Ah yes, I well remember the yard at Lostwithiel being in daily use by clay trains, would that it were so again (at least it's all still there, albeit now in an overgrown state). Note also the original windows in the signalbox. At least the recent replacement double glazing features sympathetic 'GWR style' window bars, as opposed to the tasteless windows imposed on Cotswolds and Worcester area signalboxes in the 1990s..... Rugd1022
Last time I was there CK ( December '09) the down yard was looking very sorry for itself. And I agree viz the Cotswold 'boxes, they look a bit odd with their modern double glazing!
Glorious NSE
Shame that, suspect it's just not big enough for the current train lengths - I did catch it in use on my last trip down there in 2006 (was it really that long ago!)
RMweb Gold Trevellan Posted November 25, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 25, 2011 I always regarded Lostwithiel as the quintessential GW country station. Mind you, the last time I was there the sound of Maybach engines was still a regular occurrence...
