Chough's are still there Phil. Thanks for the comments and ratings folks

Today, Sparrowhawk!! This picture was taken by my wife with my kit. Our garden is sloping uphill quite steep and there was 6 inches welly depth of snow (the Boss insisted that I correct this). So camera on tripod she trudged in wellies up the hill to get this shot and many others (ask if you want to see more). The Sparrowhawk just needed a rest so stayed for quite a while.

OK, finishing with a flourish.  The Waxwing stayed for 2 weeks after he realised we were a free apple source.  He was timid with the blackbirds to begin with, but quickly noticed he was bigger than them and started to chase them off.  When I say "with us" he stayed in a bush right next to the house and within pecking distance of the apples.

Are you sure the top ones are Siskins?

I'm no expert, but they look rather like Greenfinches to me.

Ooh well spotted, you are correct sir.  I have amended the entry.  I was paying too much attention to the eye and not enough to the stripy colours.
