RMweb Gold Market65 Posted May 25, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 25, 2015 Hi, Jonny777. Thank you, a pleasure to help. The oval mirrors are indeed a Gresley/Thompson thing. I hope that the coaches will turn out well for you. All the best, Market65.
Free At Last
Are Dapol still making these kits? Hattons used to stock loads of them, can't see any now.

Some of the plastic kits haven't been in stock for a few months either and I think both are made in the UK. Jason
Free At Last
Just had a message back from Dapol, they have been discontinued. Odd, they must have been a good seller as I can't find anywhere with stocks of them. Edited November 22, 2020 by Free At Last 1
Steamport Southport
Yes. They seem to have flew off the shelves since the first lockdown happened. Hattons had loads a few months ago. Could do with a couple more to make a four coach lavatory set. Should be plenty about, but I preferred the kits as they were already dismantled and a good price. RMweb Premium PMP99 Posted November 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 22, 2020 I think I saw some of these in Porthmadog Models a couple of weeks ago, but can’t be 100% sure as not something I was looking for. I don’t think they have an online presence unfortunately.
Free At Last
It's not that I am after buying any from elsewhere, it's that I was noticing they were becoming scarce and I had seen nothing to say they were being discontinued. I have a small stock (9) of them left but I thought they would be something that would have always been available. For under £10 in the local hobby shop they were a good buy. BR liveried examples seem particularly rare, and I need a couple more at least.
w124bob
The brake coach in both suburban and corridor form were good starts for tool/mess van conversions to complement the Bachmann crane as well.
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted November 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 25, 2020 Pity if they are discontinued, I will not be able to do so many cut and shuts. Here are few under transformation. A 57 ft composite open A 60 ft Composite Brake A 54ft Brake Second for the LTSR line. A 62ft Brake Composite A 57 ft First Brake A Restaurant Kitchen Second A period 2 Composite A second open and brake second open articulated pair. 7
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted November 26, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 26, 2020 They are/were also damn good for using with Comet/ Bedford sides too. Dirt cheap coaches not available RTR with just a bit of cutting, some glue and some alterations to ends (maybe), Roof and UF details. P

Dapol Stanier coaches are the basis for this NIR Class 70 DEMU with Worsley Works etched sides applied. I have a box full of these coaches for use in future NI multiple unit projects.
