The posts dealing in part with Boley trucks reminded me that I have several in my backlog. One of the most interesting is the City Electric truck, which is a pretty nice model.

Here's a very similar one used in Los Angeles, though electric utilities in the US may be municipally owned or private, like PG&E or Commonwealth Edison:

To be more accurate, the model should have the usual items like water coolers, disposal pails, traffic cones, and general junk applied:

But I'm also interested in the kitbash possibilities for a railroad owned maintenance truck. Here are a couple of examples:

The Boley trucks are among the least expensive such items around; they're pretty modular in their construction, and they ought to lend themselves to various kitbash projects. There was a guy who for a while sold modified Boleys with railroad logos on the cabs. For a railroad type truck, I'm thinking about adding hi-rail gear, and I think the hole digger attachment to the crane, and probably also the ladders and emergency vehicle lights would need to be removed. Anyone who might be more familiar with these trucks and the work they do could well add more info on how such a modification might be done.

I went ahead and ordered some more Boley trucks to see what the kitbash possibilities were for a Hi-Rail. One thing I noticed from my observations is that the 2-person cab is common on utility trucks, but not on Hi-Rails, which tend to have crew cab type accommodations.

So I removed the utility body and remounted it on the longer frame from a roll-on tow truck. Then I added a crew cab from a stake body:

I also removed the post hole digger attachment and the ladders. I'm waiting for a Custom Finishing heavy duty hi-rail conversion. The truck on the right is a Boley tree trimmer, which will probably get the other hi-rail conversion I ordered.
