Alcanman
Hi,  Yes, it's true, Lance Mindheim is selling 'East Rail' on e-bay!  The layout that inspired me to return to US modelling will go to someone who lives within  driving distance of Silver Springs, Maryland. Wish it was me!  I'm feeling a tinge of sadness and nostalgia.  Oh well, I've still got Palmetto (not world famous, as yet)     regards,  Mal
Jon Gwinnett
Pretty famous I think - Palmetto's a cracking layout. Hmm, I wonder if Lance could be persuaded to freight East Rail over here...

shortliner
http://www.ebay.com/itm/World-Famous-HO-Scale-Switching-Layout-train-layout-/110738150291?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19c8821393 Â Don't worry, Trev - it took me a while to find it yesterday
trisonic
Well, the good news is that he is starting another? Â The end date and time is interesting, btw. Â Best, Pete.
Jon Gwinnett
Hey Pete you're just about the closest one of us. Are you going to make a bid? You know we want you to!
trisonic
No, funnily enough I enjoy research, planning and execution of a layout but not operation. So, it has all been done for me, alas. Â This is my favourite of Lance's though! Â Best, Pete.
Jon Gwinnett
Fair enough. Â The new layout looks great so far.
signalmaintainer
If I only had the time to travel to Maryland. ... I was about to bid when I reconsidered the time frame.
Penlan
..... I wonder if Lance could be persuaded to freight East Rail over here... Specifics :-......... Item can not be shipped. Layout must be picked up in Silver Spring, MD within two weeks of purchase. Â I think the 'persuasion' could be pretty expensive, and that's over and above the reserve price. Jon Gwinnett
I know, but I can dream...
F-UnitMad
I love this bit :- Â "No returns. You buy it, you own it." Â Why ever would anyone lucky enough to be able to bid for it, possibly want to return it..?!?! Â I do wonder how easily it breaks down for transport? I don't recall it being built as a portable layout? Â Oh and Mal (Alcanman), don't put yourself down!! Palmetto Spur is on here, isn't it? - that's worldwide!! ... but pleeeeeease, don't ever put it on Ebay.... my wallet just couldn't take the strain...... RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted September 4, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2011 Hi all,  I'd just like to say....  Lance - how could you be so cruel!  I just got a quote for delivery to Scotland.......  (Have to take precautions before you stick a bid in!)  Nice door to door delivery - no packing = has to be packed at collection site. $1200......  HMRC Customs in addition to this.  Then the value of the layout hits you!  Then I realise I can't afford the shipping cost even if I win with a bid..  Sad but true  Thanks
rouse2037
mmmm not too bad. I'm in Wales which is like MILES from Scotland so that'd make it cheaper....  AND i know the Mrs wouldnt mind at all - AND its nearly pay day - AND "whats hers is mine" etc etc  ......... F-UnitMad
...I just got a quote for delivery to Scotland....... Â HMRC Customs in addition to this. Â ... unless you can get Lance to declare the Customs Value as less than $30 or so... ...and find an HMC Officer at this end who believes it.... PhilM
I know someone who lives in Maryland ....... Â And if I cut 2 feet of the short side it would fit in my cellar ....
signalmaintainer
Well, no takers for East Rail the first go-around. Hasn't been relisted yet, either.
F-UnitMad
According to Lance's blog, if it didn't sell a lot of it might be salvaged for use on Downtown Spur, buildings and so on.
