Rotherwood EM1
158722, thanks again, i have 27045 wrote on the back of the photo but even when i scanned in the neg, i still thought it was wrong, you have confirmed it for me BTW I was looking at Airthrey Park on fotopic a couple of months ago, excellent layout and plenty of inspiration there, especially the 26 mods done on the early Heljan 26's and after watching the vids on youtube i'm definitely going to add sound to at least one class 26 and 27, i was only going to do it to a couple of 37's but not anymore

Thanks for the comments on AP, as you can probably guess, you can see why am so enthusiastic over your photos! Layouts like AP, are for me, a great arena for sound (especially BRCW Type 2s!), perfect for pootling around the depot then a bit of thrash away on load 4 to Edinburgh! Sound might be expensive, but worth it. I'm currently working on 3 more McRats, 26007 in Blue, 26010 in RfG and another 27, perhaps 025, or maybe now an ex 27/2. Anyone modifield the bogies on 26/0s to the leaf spring variety yet? Ideas?!

jbg06003
Interesting to see a couple of double headed 27s south of Dundee there. Didn't think they were that common. Anyway, I'm off to run a 27 on Waverley West after watching that. Cheers Bruce. You're a star. Cheers, Dave Dave, the doubleheader was on the occasion of the SRPS Farewell excursion - it ran via Stirling (clip in my Perth-Stirling vid)to Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen and back to base via Fife. As you say, doubleheaded 27's were rare on normal service trains although I do have a shot of a 26+27 combo on a Dundee-Edinburgh service. Amazingly the 27 was DIT!! Most of the vids south of Kirkcaldy were taken in the short period when the Kirkcaldy service was loco hauled (although the longer Dundee service was worked by first gen MU stock!) Peter, I did consider compiling some dvd's of pics and vids and selling via you-know-where bay. However, I felt that the quality of the early Video8 material was a bit suspect (the sound was decent tho). I've got enough material for a few more vids but its deciding whether to focus by geography or just a few mish-mash jobs. AP was one of the reasons I decided to do DCC+sound so will make the effort to pop over to Falkirk and see it. Now - away to have a nose at the Heljan thread... Flood
Seeing as we appear to be focussing on 26s and 27s at the moment (and as mentioned in another thread I've borrowed my Dad's scanner), here are a few photos from 1985 in the Glasgow/Edinburgh area. Photos from Inverness to follow soon. My only Class 26 for haulage
158722
Pairs of 27s on the Dundee circuit? Only ever had 2 pairs, both because of failures. Pilot/shunt loco used to drag the failure on both occasions, 27049 with 27063, then 27045 with 27004 - latter pairing seen at Leuchars on 5th August 1985
P.C.M
Love the 26s and 27s guys.B) I notice 27014 has the Highland rail sticker though it looks a bit smaller than the ones fitted to 37s and 47s. My pic of 27014 doesn't have the stag maybe it didn't last long. Bruce I don't think people would be that worried about quality and the sound is great. Anyway a couple of mine. Cheers Peter.
Flood
As promised - Inverness Depot 12 July 1985. This time I'll used my preferred format. Showing all the photos taken at that time, in the order they were taken, regardless of class.

jbg06003
Thanks again, guys. Some 26 and 27's from me. Suspect that this was taken on a Sunday when the departure times of the Dundee and GQS services was fairly coincident - and a race inevitably ensued. Here 27004 has got the jump on the 47/7 out of Haymarket - by Saughton however the 'gemme wis a bogie' as they say. March 1982 26's were the first choice for the loco hauled replacements to Dundee. Here 26 013 passes Haymarket depot. March 1982 27 056 with it's go faster stripe at IS. March 1984 27 021 is about to expire on a morning Ed-Dundee service at Markinch. March 1982 again (good month that...) Bruce

Didn't exactly show confidence in St Rollox but was good fun for us. J

jbg06003
Another vid on Youtube. In a change to the published schedule its some scenes on the WHL from 85 to 88. (ish) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Scp5fCM7NHI Hope you enjoy. Next, will be what I've got left of the Edinburgh and surrounding area. As a wee testimony to John's (sulzer27jd) skills, compare and contrast... John's to Admittedly, my shot was taken in the relative glamour of Markinch as opposed to the layouts setting of Kirkcaldy but impressive modelling nonetheless. Also, some great pics posted recently - keep em coming! Anyone got shots of Kirkcaldy harbour branch???? Bruce

ianwales
Hi all Looking at the photos of Dundee there seems to be a retaining wall either side of the station and there seems to be rolling stock at a higher level behind these walls, what was actually up there, also did the line go into a tunnel the Aberdeen end of the station? phixer64
Hiya, I lived in Dundee for three years, catching the train everyday to Perth. The line splits just before the bridge, and the east end does indeed go into a tunnel exiting in Dundee itself, and then it goes on to Carnoustie, Arbroath, Montrose and all staions to Aberdeen. Take a look at Google Maps http://maps.google.c...F-8&sa=N&tab=wl There used to be a yard there, and a long time ago a shed. A resident 06 shunter, this is now gone, and replaced by some brand new buildings. The still store the odd unit in there, and and freight. Would make an ideal layout, if you had the space.
