I rather like this livery - from our friend Kurt in Germany

Good isn't it. The "real" LATR was abandoned many years ago - a short history here:http://mraltadena.com/altadena%20history/alta_rr.html

Its yet another excuse for a might have been (I think Americans call it proto-freelancing) in the LA basin. I'm quite tempted to pinch Kurts livery and apply it to the NS MP15DC and SD38 I have up in the loft - what's holding me back is the worry that LA lines would all be running Gensets* by now. But maybe not?

*Of couse, this might be an excuse for a Genset in LATR black too. Might look like this:http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=373942&nseq=0

Dear RMwebbers,

Β

Between this and some of the recent proto pics from Dr G-F, anyone feel a hankering for a 'nook that plays host to a switcher or 2, and a string of 4 - 6 89' autoracks?

Happy Modelling,

Oh yes. I have three such autoracks, and no sane reason to run them. Not sure how to compress an auto terminal, but they are handsome.

Β

I've often wondered if it would be possible to do one in etched brass, to get the "transparent" effect when they're empty.

Β

Over to Prof and Shortliner, plan away!

You see the photos/reports at Plano of the guy who drilled 12,000 holes in one AutoRack car (Walthers) to achieve the see thru look just before Plano came out with their perforated sides? You can now visit him at the local State Institution.

Best, Pete.
