richrock
Anyone know of any good online stores for US outline in N scale? I've got a few bookmarked, but almost everything is out of stock, annoying when you've clicked through about 4-5 pages to get to the item itself - only to find it's not available. I can't seem to find a good specialist who has more than a handful of items in stock out of an entire range. One store had about 40-50 loco's listed, and I gave up after find two in stock for the first 15 ones I looked at... Β I'm looking at trying to persuade SWMBO to part-pay for a new loco (possibly GP38 or some suitable switcher) for my impending birthday. I was given some old n-scale models and the locos are a bit 'tired' considering their age (probably older then me ).
AndrewC
Model Junction for a start. Apart from pre-order stuff they only show in stock items on their website. Model Junction They show about a dozen different GP38-2s in stock.
Glorious NSE
Especially in view of your earlier experience: http://www.modeljunction.info/estore/index.php Β The website works 'live' - if it's on the website it's in the shop (unless it's marked as an advanced order item) Can special order stuff from the US if they don't have what you want. Β I use them all the time and they are very good.
Allegheny1600
The signalbox also do a fair range of US N gauge stock - as they do for H0 too! I find them considerably cheaper than MJ. Cheers, John E.
RMweb Gold tetsudofan Posted July 20, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2011 For me it's also Model Junction....have used them for a number of years.....and don't forget that they discount most pre-orders and offer vouchers to be used on next purchases. RMweb Gold Accurascale Fran Posted July 20, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2011 Another vote for model junction. Whilst their loco's can be a bit pricey their freight cars are good value and they have a great selection. Detail parts too. Hattons seem to be knocking out a good bit of Atlas stuff too, worth a look.

Β Personally I can't recommend Model Junction highly enough - good range, good prices and most importantly great customer service and product knowledge. Glorious NSE
Price is a bit of a movable feast buying US outline from over here - I suspect it has more to do with the exchange rate on the day the bill gets paid coupled with how careful Customs & Excise were when they looked at the individual boxes rather than shop A being always cheaper than shop B! Β Doing a quick comparison I could find items cheaper either way between Model Jcn and The Signalbox for example. The Athearn RTR freightcars I looked up were quite a bit cheaper at Signalbox, but when I looked up the pair of Trainman GP38-2 i've just bought they were ΓΒ£6 cheaper each at MJ - plus I got an advanced order discount on that figure which made for quite a chunky saving... Β You have your swings, and then you have your roundabouts...
