RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted December 19, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 19, 2011 Silly me, I forgot about this bit of footage that I had uploaded to YouTube a couple of weeks ago - (in fact, I thought that the upload had gone wrong, but there you go!)

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted December 19, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 19, 2011 Good to see 847 nicely turned out for the run. Colas locos are normally quite clean, but 848 and 850 up this way are (unless they've been cleaned in the last few days) decidely grubby. Cheers, Mick
Ogauge83A
66847 is up at Teignbridge as it arrived yesterday (this time with headlights at the front ) might go up and check on it in a bit, due off 1442 like last time. AC
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted December 21, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 21, 2011 I popped out there earlier today to check on how they were getting on, and found that they had loaded the rear half of the train already and were well on their way to completing loading of the rest: The logs laid parallel with the track are to prevent lorries turning from encroaching onto the formation: Note the rear half of the train on the other side of the level crossing: A mess room has now arrived on site - simple scratchbuild, anyone? The train departed several minutes early and at last check was proceeding in fine form up towards Bristol...

RMweb Premium Kris Posted January 18, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 18, 2012 This made it onto BBC's spotlight news today (18/1/12) at lunchtime. There was a live piece from the site including an interview with a guy from Network Rail and Colas.

R A Watson
It was highlighted as a forthcoming item on the 18.30 Spotlight tonight, but I missed it as I was looking around S Wales with Mr Portillo at that time. I suspectt it will be on IPLayer if you look for it.
RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted January 18, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2012 Managed to find the evening broadcast on iPlayer, some good footage but twice said "this is the first time timber has been moved by train in Devon" - I beg to differ! RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 19, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2012 That took a while! The BBC piece was delayed due to Christmas and New Year intervening, otherwise they would have been there sooner. I was unable to attend yesterday due to other work committments, hence a colleague kindly covered for me.

Tom J
This traffic came just in time. The branch's future was looking decidedly shaky and people on the railway were having to speak up to save it. Maybe someone will do the decent thing, now that it's been brought out of mothballs, and run a charter up there for the first time in a while. Tyseley Pannier(s), perchance? Ogauge83A
Pathfinder seem to be on that case of running a tour up the branch with 3 Class 37s on June 9th. Tony
