mason
Hi all, i thought i would add my old layout pilot road, this was probably one of the first box file layouts on the pages of RMWEB and also featured in Model Rail no:143 this was a great project and really got me back into the hobbie without blowing lots of cash and getting great results and was always well recieved at exhibition Here is the link for you to read about the build. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/2651-pilot-road/ cheers Neil
RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted May 28, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 28, 2011 Some years ago Carl Arendt challenged a modeller to build a layout in an Ikea "Snackbox". It seems this was done "tongue in cheek" and that he didn't actually think much of the idea himself, but some modellers took up the challenge and a Yahoo group was established. The group never really took off, possibly because the Snackbox dimensions are in fact more constraining than they first appear. Nevertheless I liked the idea, and am having a go at building a pre-grouping goods depot in a Snackbox, as part of the "Farthing" series of small layouts: * This link brings up the entries related to my Snackbox layout ("The depot"): http://www.rmweb.co....age__tag__Depot * And this link is to some general reflections on the design concepts used: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/page/index.html/_/featured-content/the-farthing-layouts-design-principles-r27 In terms of inspiration for micro-layout shunting puzzles, here is a link to The Model Railways Shunting Puzzles site: http://www.wymann.in...ll-layouts.html And here is a link to an RMweb thread on exhibiting boxfile layouts: http://www.rmweb.co....post__p__311355

RMweb Gold Burkitt Posted June 10, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 10, 2011 Here's a micro layout which I really like, The Brickworks by Arthur Budd http://arthurbudd.webs.com/thebrickworks.htm . There was a thread about it on the previous version of the forum http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7716 . And my own micro layout under construction, Claverton Engineering http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/3355-claverton-engineering-0-165-micro-layout/page__p__24433__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=24433 . It's now got a website at http://clavertonengineering.wordpress.com/ which is a bot more ordered than the topic. Paul

standardblue
Hi All, I've started a blog to track the "progress" of my boxfile layout: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/1047-standardblues-blog/ It's only just started (track laid, wiring underway) and is unlikely to achieve the outstanding quality of many others in this thread, so I hope it's not too embryonic or basic to post here! RMweb Premium 47137 Posted February 27, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 27, 2012 My current layout project is a narrow gauge line in 1:87 scale called 'Castell y Bwrdd', built on a hobby table from The Range. I have written a page of notes on the railway at http://www.castellybwrdd.co.uk and there is some discussion of it on the Layout Topics forum: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/52540-castell-y-bwrdd/ At the moment I am concentrating on building the layout ... the trains are for the future, and will probably start out as Roco and Liliput RTR.
