RMweb Gold Popular Post BoD Posted July 13, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 13, 2021 Sadly Gordon passed away earlier this morning. RMweb Premium Bogie Posted July 13, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2021 That is very sad and I am so sorry to hear this news. Like everyone else on the forum I was hoping. My best wishes to his family and friends. Gordon's family only need to read through this thread to appreciate in just what high esteem he was held - especially by such an eclectic group of people as model railway enthusiasts. Popular Post LNER4479
Oh no The recent bulletins had prepared us for this to some extent (and thanks to BoD for providing those) yet the human spirit always hopes. Such a sad loss - you only have to look at the number of followers of this thread (421 as of me posting this) to see how highly regarded Gordon and his work was. I was one of those who only knew Gordon through this thread; however, that changed when I was privileged to meet the man himself, as he made the effort to visit the Southampton show in Jan 2020, in the company of 92220 of this parish. Clearly struggling, he nevertheless bore a cheery face and I shall forever cherish our all-too-brief conversation at the barriers of Grantham. Andy York's earlier post highlighted that Gordon's contribution to RMWeb was a lot more than just his own modelling adventures (endlessly entertaining and inspirational though they were) and for that we can all be truly grateful. Right o'way Gordon for your onward journey into paradise where the trains forever circuit flawlessly round Eastwood Town's perfectly constructed tracks. 26 4
RMweb Premium great northern Posted July 13, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) Another very good person and very fine modeller gone. I met Gordon only a couple of times, and long ago, but we kept in touch, and he will be greatly missed. My condolences to, and sympathy for his family at this dreadful time for them. RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted July 13, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13, 2021 Thanks for letting us know. It was becoming a more expected outcome, but no less sad for that. Nor any less a sad time for his family, whom I will be remembering in my prayers. Paul. 3
cb900f
Nothing to add, just to repeat the member's thoughts and comments above . Like many others I only knew Gordon through RmWeb. During one of his change of plans I purchased a large number of handmade points that were redundant. They arrived in 2 large plywood boxes perfectly built , so good in fact, that a couple of hinges and a handle fitted and they would be ideal for carrying O gauge locos. A number of Gordon's points are now in place on my baseboards. RIP Gordon Pete Edited July 13, 2021 by cb900f forgot apostrophe

RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted July 13, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 13, 2021 Oh heck - I just looked in to see how things were going and then read Bod's latest post. Condolences to Gordon's family for their loss. And a a genuinely great loss for our hobby and RMweb itself - not just for his modelling expertise but Gordon was a truly 'nice bloke' in every sense of the word and it's sad to hear of his departure. God speed Gordon. 22
