Phil - I've just started building my own lay-out and I've been reading this forum for ideas/hints/info etc. It's taken me about a week to read through all the posts on here but I've learned a lot from your posts and I love the way you update so humorously. Thanks for sharing it all.

I've definitely learned not to get a cat!

Jon

Thanks Jon for spending the time to read my musings and changes of plan. It's now been over a year since I started, and I often think about how much progress I've made, yet so little too - still I'm enjoying myself.

WRT the cat, I'd probably agree - the main culprit (Poppy) was found down there again tonight snuggled down in the hanging basket liner. I just have to make sure that I never leave any locos or wagons parked in that area.

I look forward to seeing your layout appearing in it's own thread soon.

Cheers

Phil

Hattons is by far the best stockist in the UK, Ive been there and could have easily spend a £1000!

Is that all?

I found it useful to actually see all the loco's / rolling stock in the glass cases - very well presented, and allows you to see the detail on the various models and compare them.

I didn't actually buy anything today, but have added quite a few things to my wish list.

Now how did Ian miss that???????????????????????

Because my StaNav took me to where they used to be located as per their address, the shop is actually further up the road as I found out when I looked on Google maps at home!

EWS has just opened a new depot adjacent to Beresford Junction. It is going to be serviced by two class 56 (56103 and 56059).

The Freightliner container depot can be seen in the background.

Hi Phil, the layout is really looking good, you have some nive rakes of rolling stock there. Im starting to like those EWS coal hopper wagons..

All the best

Leon

They are HTAs,you could get away with running a nice rake of 20 behind your 66068,however they cost £20-25 each!

The EWS fleet is looking great, its a shame this livery has been replaced by DB Schenker red. A 60 would look superb hauling those HTAs,they were too heavy for 56s to handle!

Thanks - I've got a couple of 60's on my shopping list, along with plenty of other things.

The eagle eye amongst you will have spotted that they still have the factory fitted Kaddee couplings on, and I've yet to get round to fitting any to the locos, so all they've ever done is sit in the siding being loaded by the diggers - bit of a waste.

After a great day at Exford Park (many thanks Ian) learning my route (pics here on the Exford Park thread) driving a nice class 37 (with sound), I came home all enthused and completed my Scalescenes Modern Industrial Building, well a low relief version with no inside.

And here behind the scenes the cat box view.

I've also added a class 37 with sound to my Christmas list....

Finally the P Way guys got the go-ahead to re-connect the link track from the main line to the station. In the end it turned out to be a 5 min job and has enabled the coaches to be shunted out to the washing plant for a clean.

and here as an arial shot, showing the empty container yard - where have they gone?

Here they are, while the station was empty, the signalman took the chance to fill up platforms 1, 2 and 3.

57011 arrives with the Dapol flats, carrying the new delivery of Scalescenes containers that have arrived from my Mother in Laws manufacturing plant. She was going to fabricate the warehouse, but needed to get her eye in with something simpler first.

Hi Phil,

I do like those Scalescene containers, the container crane looks good too. The whole layout is really coming together, look fowards to seeing more during next year.

Merry Christmas, Peter.
