Theo C. Cupier
Mass exodus from Westbury? Noticed 70802, 803, 804 and 810 passing through Trowbridge tonight at around 18:30, heading in the Bristol direction.
Great Western
The same set went to Bristol around 1315 (through Bath), noted in the Up Through under the Trainshed at Bristol at 1600 then noted passing me again towards Westbury this time around 1730. My times might be out as I was running about 30 late due to a HST losing its air at Bath. Great Western

RMweb Premium phil-b259 Posted March 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2015 Colas class 70s were out to play at Horsham today. Part of the old yard is currently being rebuilt (I heard they are putting in new carriage sidings, more or less where the old Chipmans sidings were). I can confirm that the work at Horsham is for stabling sidings for Thameslink. Under the revised depot strategy (forced by the opposition to, and subsequent scaling back of the size of the new Hornsey depot) more space was required south of the river and the land at Horsham (where some Thameslink services will terminate) fitted the bill nicely (i.e. on existing, under utilized railway land, not overlooked by housing or other problematic neighbors, etc)
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2015 70806, along with 66850, at Doncaster yesterday. Cheers, Phil.
Powerhaul 70 Pey
It would be nice to see some Colas Rail class 70's working in the North West again. These photos are from 1/05/2015 last year when 70806 and 70807 were moved from Liverpool docks. Managed to divert my drive home from work to park up near Winwick junction just north of Warrington to catch the move and take some pics with camera on phone. Only joined this website as a member recently hence reason for posting now. Managed to catch 70810 at Liverpool Seaforth docks when working on 28/05/2014. Never seen any in the area since and unfortunately missed the time a 70 worked the logs from Carlisle to Warrington.

Wayward Hayward
Certainly brightening up a rainy Saturday morning, 70806 hauls DR73117 through Wymondham 20 minutes early working the 6Z12 1115 Norwich Thorpe Ce Sidings to Rugby D.E.D. Is this the first class 70 loco or Colas engine to travel to Norwich? 70806+DR73117 Wymondham 11/04/15 by rhayward92, on Flickr

Happy days messing around with large drums of 33kV cable and parrot wagons, large transformers and weltrols, an assortment of ex-SR vans & coaches. Used to keep quite a lot of kit in the old railway horse stables.............. By way of recompense, here's something to get things sort of back on track - enjoy.............. 70004 @ Little Langford in the Wylye Valley on last Saturday's Leeds - Soton Freightliner Edited April 14, 2015 by Southernman46
Peter Kazmierczak
A month on and no new Class 70 images, so here's Colas 70802 last weekend between Bournemouth and Branksome on track renewals.
Theo C. Cupier
70805 with 70804 to the rear at Westbury yesterday. 70808 with an unidentified 70 to the rear is at the extreme right. Of course, I was really there to watch 70000 depart for Kingswear with the Dartmouth Express. Edited May 27, 2015 by Theo C. Cupier
Peter Kazmierczak
Surely Class 70s don't throw out much clag? Colas 70807, again from last weekends track renewal near Branksome.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted May 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2015 They are by far one of the claggyest locos ive driven in a long time, apparently the clag is some sort of self clean mechanism
Powerhaul 70 Pey
The Ellesmere Port Manisty Wharf to Fiddlers Ferry coal trains are finally running again after an absence of around 2 months. Here's 70002 last night at around 20:30 at Walton junction heading towards Arpley junction. Here is 70002 again after running around its train at Latchford sidings. The train is now on the Warrington low level heading towards Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. There's plenty of clag as the train takes it nice and slowly through the Unilever factory complex before accelerating away.
Powerhaul 70 Pey
A day off work today so took the kids out for the afternoon and caught 70002 again on the Ellesmere Port Manisty Wharf to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. Here is the train passing over the level crossing on Old Liverpool Road in Warrington where Monks Signal Box is located just after 13:00. Was chatting to the signal man out of the window who was saying just how quiet the line is now compared to a couple of months ago when the coal fired power stations were stockpiling coal before the taxation went up. From here we drove to Hellifield to see the Carlisle to Chirk log train with a Colas class 60 on the front!!

Powerhaul 70 Pey
Thats a heck of a drive warrington to hellifield just to see the 60, especially as you could have stayed put and seen it at warrington!! You should have introduced yourself at hellified btw Hello Jim and thanks for the tip-off that there was a 60 on it yesterday. Yes Warrington to Hellifield was quite a drive and we would probably have stopped in Warrington or go back to Wigan had we known that the 60 was stopping on. The drive would have been even longer had we missed your train yesterday but we got there with a bit of time to spare. Sorry I would have liked to have had a chat to you but I didn't want to mither you, especially with two kids with me. My little lad went a bit quiet when we heard off other people on the platform that the 60 was staying on as he kept asking to see you uncouple the two locos. Thank you again for the info, I enjoy reading your posts and looking at the photos of the places you get to. We hope there will be a Colas class 70 venturing up the north west in the future, not seen one since you moved 70806, 70807 and then 70810 from Liverpool docks.
