RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted May 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10, 2016 There seems to be a lot more mobility between the divisions than there used to be. Currently a lot of clubs in Leagues 1 & 2 that have known Premiership football. And, despite so few clubs having won the Premiership, two of them are clubs that have been in the third tier. But you're forgetting an important aspect. At one time it was only 'two up & two down', between various divisions, now its at least 3, so you get a much higher turnover of teams. Certainly now you have a number of yo-yos that are not good enough for Premier League, yet too good for the Championship. Examples include Newcastle, Bolton, Wolverhampton, Crystal Palace and a few other clubs that have been on this roller coaster. Going broke in a big way, can mean a double drop (consecutive years). RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted May 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10, 2016 Could I add Watford to that list? Why not, the more the merrier. There is also Norwich & Middlesbore! Even Leicester. Here is the up to date list. Correctly still waiting for confirmation of some placings at this stage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Premier_League_seasons

cary hill
Why not, the more the merrier. & Middlesbore! Even Leicester Middlesbore! Thats a bit harsh......and quite right to include Leicester, as we are 4th in the all time list for promotions(11) and relegations(11) (I believe football existed before the Premiership)... Only Notts County, Birmingham City and Grimsby Town have more promotions and relegations than Leicester. Man.City used to be a yo-yo side too..... they are 5th in the all time list of promotions and relegations

I most certainly agree with your last point. It annoys me that many think the world began in 1992 or whichever year the PL began.
cary hill
Usual friendly welcome from those cheery East Enders: Edit: no damage to coach - Sullivan (guessing) One way to remember the last game at the Boleyn/Upton Park I suppose.... RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted May 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 10, 2016 With kick-off delayed by 45 mins, the official post-match celebrations may well be cancelled. A real pity for genuine supporters.
RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted May 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 10, 2016 Should have got there early. The attack wouldn't have happened and the game wouldn't have been delayed. Second game this season with a delayed kick off because of them. Hope they get fined by the FA. Its totally disrespectful.
AndrewC
Every ground banned knuckledragger from the past was going to be there. The old Bill knew this but failed to round up the ringleaders beforehand. ManU were warned and told to arrive by 4pm. Also driver took wrong route past the most dangerous spot he could have. Cracking game and result though. Cracking game and result though. LVG in his interview said their coach was 100 yards behind the West Ham one. Even so it wasn't likely there would be any trouble with the WHU coach, but always a chance of trouble with the Man U. one. Shame some neanderthals spoilt the overall evening. Let's hope the are found and banned. Rob

They did it to Spurs a few weeks ago too. It's an old ploy to get the game delayed and throw off the home team.

RMweb Gold BoD Posted May 11, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 11, 2016 well that was a lie. The WHU coach arrived more than an hour earlier. That's because Victor Moses was on board and he just parted the sea (of supporters).
andyram
That's because Victor Moses was on board and he just parted the sea (of supporters). Surely that would have worked better at Old Trafford where the sea would have been red instead of claret and blue!

Butler Henderson
I remember going to watch Notts County vs Chelsea at Meadow Lane, when they were in the same division.......... And it was a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge that took Notts into the top flight in 1981. First match the next season was away against the league champions, Aston Villa. Notts won 1-0 much to the surprise of the national media who were predicting a thumping. Two seasons later with talk of aiming to get into Europe they were relegated along with a far worse Wolves side and Birmingham despite some notable victories, 4-0 away at Leicester, 5-2 at home to Villa and 6-1 at home to Sunderland.
