RMweb Gold tetsudofan Posted August 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 15, 2015 From what I remember of seeing them shuffling around Lowestoft Harbour many years ago they made very little noise - certainly no real chuff that you heard on a regular steam loco. mozzer models
OK I weakened and this diminutive little loco arrived here this morning and I have instantly fallen in love with it I now really need to know what they sounded like for real. Can anyone help me with some recordings? the Middleton Railway leeds are putting there back together so one working you can get the right sound
No Decorum
Oil lamps? No light on the rear of the loco when pulling a train.
Les1952
I don't know if it has been mentioned before but- If fitting DCC avoid the Zen direct-plug decoder (the one with the interface built in). It is too big top-to-bottom. When sitting on the interface it prevents the body going back on. Mine now has a wired decoder with a harness from the 8-pin plug. the direct-fit decoder now lives inside the tender of a Hornby K1. Les
No Decorum
I used a Gaugemaster direct fit.
Les1952
I used a Gaugemaster direct fit. I suspect the Gaugemaster is a lot thinner than the Zen. Les

stewartingram
Mine certainly were glued, came off with a little damage. However I was able to glue the bits back in position with no visible faults. Stewart
Brian Harrap
Here's what it looks like with wheels to P4, Doesn't look as though its on the track? Thats because its standing on P87. Crane going on later, Brian. OK so its taken a while but we did eventually get a Sentinel Crane Loco. Brian.
Brian Harrap
Clever of them to put that pin on for you to pivot the jib, Brian. Yes it was Jonathan, got round to it in the end. Brian

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2016 Hmmmm not sure I would fancy being the crane driver. It looks abit unstable? Gordon A There were at least two Sentinel crane locomotives but with a longer wheelbase and an even longer frame. These were LNER numbers 773044 and 773066. These had open sided cabs with lower roofs to accomodate the Jib. Another interesting version was a 2' 6" gauge 0-6-0 version that was virtually identical to the standard locomotive above the running plate. http://www.irfca.org/~shankie/nrm/ngsentinel.jpg

davknigh
Very convincing. Just out of curiosity, is that a new layout a-building underneath the engine or an addition to Quai 87? Cheers, David
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2016 Thanks PhilJW. Has any one got any pictures of a standard gauge crane Sentinel? Gordon A I have seen an old copy (50's) of MRN that had a 00 scale drawing of one of these cranes.
