leopardml2341
All this talk of bus destination blinds prompted the recall of the Western SMT one in my (ex) bus. The main blind had a 'Workers' destination, which could be preceded by 5EX on the number blinds. Not that I ever did, of course When I first acquired it, it was fitted with a Timeline Travel blind, and one of the destinations was (Manchester) Arndale. One of its first rally outings was to Meadhowall in Sheffield, now who wouldn't? Aside of that, a pleasant evening has been had sitting in the summershed drinking some bottles of ale which were bought for me by SWMBO's sister as a recent birthday prezzie. Time for bed now.... RMweb Premium Popular Post BR60103 Posted July 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 10, 2021 Today our printer would only copy a couple of inches at the top of a page. This has happened before. We went out for more ink but our model was not in stock. The shop offered to look at out printer, but we decided to buy a new one. Most of the afternoon spent trying to hook hooking it up. Manual was almost non-existant and everything had to be done online. I ignored a couple of checks -- it seems to take the smaller common size of paper only and the bend of the feed will be hard on printing downloads. SWMBO printed bank statements tonight and got two different sizes of print on two accounts.
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted July 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 10, 2021 Toronto had a few odd destinations. A couple of the loops were named for the street that the cars turned at. Luttrell is the block before the boundary between Toronto and Scarborough. There was a loop a block north of Bloor at a street called Vincent.* One of the car barns was at Connaught street which was used going out of service. Regular users of the lines would know where these were, but the occasional rider might be puzzled. * Imagine a destination of the street just beyond Oxford Street. 16 1
Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all My heart is in Bristol this weekend but I am not. Were it not for that ruddy virus, and despite my painful legs, I would have been marching through the city centre today with possibly 20,000 other people. That is nowhere near as many as those who will be at Wembley tomorrow night watching a kickball match. How fair is that? New in Bristol in honour of Pride is a double decker bus with rainbow stripes – and electronic destination displays rather than roller blinds, apparently. Well done to those who made it happen! I am hoping that what would have been today’s parade is postponed rather than cancelled but I am not optimistic. It so happens that I could also have been at the AGM of the Scalefour Society today in Leighton Buzzard, presenting me with rather a difficult choice. Guess what: that has been cancelled too, thanks to Covid restrictions, and will be taken forward on line. On a happier note, a chance discovery on YouTube yesterday was of Status Quo playing Steeleye Span’s “All Around My Hat”! The performance included dancing and vocals by Maddy Prior and someone that I have not yet identified playing Irish bagpipes. With Sidmouth festival some three weeks away, finding that was a good way of preparing myself for some of the musical surprises which on past form are bound to come. Best wishes to all, with warmest thoughts and fingers still crossed for Gordon S. Chris 16 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted July 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 10, 2021 Mooring AWL, inner Temple Hare, 6 hours sleep until summoned from my pit by Ben the Alarm clock Collie..pity it's a weekend.. He's taken me out on morning patrol, heavy mist, water dripping from the trees, overcast as well. I inspected the main area of work today, slab moving, there's more than I think I can do today. After that preparing the boat for steering gear installation, reset the boat on its supports , remove lifting gear, install seat, then take my seat with a couple of shortened snooker cues, they had become useless bent before shortening, but will make a nice whipstaff or two. Then try various positions for the whipstaff/s , once that's done I can design and build the final steering arrangement. Time to make a muggacoffee and breakfast.

The next job is the front room (as Bear has always known it) - that'll be lounge if you're posh Nothing like as technical a job as the kitchen, but still a refurb job involving plastering, coving, all woodwork, some boxing in of pipework, new radiator etc etc. Then it's refurb the hall, stairs and landing, which will involve stripping the stair stringers of a hundred years of paint - though it might be possible to clad the stringers instead. Then I'm "done" (and I probably will be....), after that it's just general maintenance/upkeep tasks. And maybe then I'll get a chance to actually build something that involves parallel strips of metal...... 5 hours ago, Erichill16 said: I thought he was coming up north (or should that be south) to help me with my refit! That's be after the list above, which should give you a chance to stock up on cake..... In other news: Bear has decided on a bit of a "start putting things in cupboards day" today; I also have a new vacuum cleaner to unpack, a serious load of washing up to do and a tiler to message. That'll do for starters.... 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted July 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 10, 2021 Good morning from the Charente. It looks as if we may have a dry but cloudy day. Much gardening was done yesterday and the hens were mucked out. My home madevirrigation system is now ready forvuse on the veg garden. In the evening we went out to a fish and chip restaurant in an usolated farm. It only opens on Fridays and is run by two Flemish ladies. They have a superb selection of Belgian beer. A good night was had. This morning it's tak to Emily time. This morni g dhe will be in her uncles house in Lincoln, en route to a holiday in Norfolk. Then more hedges need attention. Well done to the Manx Missile for equalling the stage win record in the TdF. That is a real sporting achievement and no diving or feigning injury. Regards to all. Popular Post Andrew P
SHE, will not be a happy bunny when she wakes up, we knew the forecast was possibly for rain, but hoped it wouldn't. The reason is, we are having a Family BBQ and get together to mark what will be the Good Lady's BIG EIGHT O on Tuesday. It will obviously be the first such BIG occasion since moving back down to be near the Family, and with current restriction an outdoor gathering has been planned with, dare I say it, Military pression. That is because I'm NOT aloud to be involved, the 4 Kids are doing all the planning and preparation, although I did notice NOT ONE, but TWO large bowels bowls (amended, see below) of Trifle have appeared in the Fridge. The shindig should kick off about lunch time so I'm really hoping that the light misty drizzle we have at the moment doesn't turn into down pours, although I believe at least 3 large Gazebos have been erected, and Daughter has a conservatory so hopefully we will all stay fairly dry. Off now to throw my self under the new shower head, in the hope that it doesn't come a knocking on my skull once more this morning. Have a good day one and all, stay safe and keep well. RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted July 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10, 2021 (edited) Good morning all, A grey sort of day here with outbreaks of rain forecast, some heavy, with the first due in about 40 minutes. I might not go for a walk then. Yet another fantastic finish to yesterday's stage of the TdeF.. Can Cav get over the mountains and take the last stage in Paris? I will continue to watch and hope on a daily basis. Today's other sporting offerings are two rugby matches this afternoon provided nothing else goes wrong to scupper them. Sick and tired already about all the hype for tomorrow's football match. Anyone (except the Italians) would think we've already won it. I suspect the opposition will get up to their usual pathetic cheating tactics and that's one of the many reasons I no longer watch the so-called sport. Still feeling a bit rough but can't figure out what the problem is. Never mind, more tea and some breakfast may help. After that who knows but of course there is a large Shed at the end of the garden that could be worth a visit. Have a good one, Bob. Woken up by Arthur Itis this morning but he was making himself scarce by the time I deployed the Nurofen. I suspect its down to the jabs on Thursday as the covid jabs also woke up Arthur but only first thing in the morning. Happy birthday to Andy P's SWMBO hope the day goes well. jonny777
Grey and misty here in North Somerset. There may be a little light drizzle, but I can't tell unless I go outside, but I don't want to disturb the greenfinches on my seed feeders. ChrisF will be pleased to know that not only does Bristol have a rainbow bus, it also has a rainbow street crossing. He may not be quite as happy to see that, within a week of its completion, it has been vandalised. https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2021-07-07/hate-crime-investigation-underway-as-bristols-new-rainbow-crossing-vandalised 12 1

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted July 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 10, 2021 Good morning everyone It's was beautiful sunny day here in England's northwest, but it has just started raining, so currently sat in the workshop having a muggertea. Up late again this morning, so straight outside to do some work in the garden. Mainly dead heading, but there are a lot of petals that need picking up, so, before starting, I made a tool to make the job a bit easier. It's a bit like the tool the old parkie's used to carry around with them. Basically, a short pole with a spike on the end, hands up who remembers them eh? It works a treat! Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. Brian
