Unfortunately PB it would appear that the RSPCA have taken the decision, in light no doubt of the cock ups and wasted funds spent on fools errands prosecutions, to no longer prosecute 'brain dead evil b.....,.ds' other epithets are available, who abuse animals. Up until just over a week ago being in Priority Group 3 I thought exactly the same as you do especially as one of my neighbours aged 95 had not been contacted for a jab but then things suddenly changed.

 

On Saturday 23/1 I was sent a link to the NHS booking system which I followed and within minutes I had booked a jab at the new Folca jabbing centre for 10:10am on Tuesday 26/1. Turned up for the jab at 10:10am and was jabbed at 10:27am and on my way home at 10:35am.

 

During the afternoon of Tuesday 26/1 received a call from my local GP surgery asking if I would like a jab at their jabbing centre at the Civic Hall Car Park the following day Wednesday 27/1.

 

So going from virtually nothing happening to having had the jab and being offered another one by my GP indicates how quickly things can change.

 

The Folca centre has been set up in what was the local Debenhams store and jabs are being offered to people with 45 minutes driving time of the centre. As Folca is in the middle of the town the NHS website even gives details of the location of local car parking spaces.

 

So, as far as I am concerned, the mandarins at the NHS are getting things arranged and not just sitting around on their backsides. To be honest I was amazed at the number of people working in the Folca centre. People are working hard to keep us safe even though they might not be visible to us.

our Dyson was getting less capable of actually cleaning so.. a Shark has been purchased. Much lighter and easier to use and..it comes with headlights(!). Seems to pull more dirt up than the Dyson

A Shark is top of the list for consideration Baz. Headlights would be handy in event of a power cut.... er ... hang on... or possibly not!

Snow now melting. Had to go to the post office.. slid in the snow.. her indoors didn't even notice  I had fallen over!  Post Office was shut so struggled back home.. Now had a mugadecaff and lunch. A quick but pleasant chat with an ER followed.. but.. next door neighbour is still chasing new cable ways in his walls (they must be like swiss cheese!)  and whoever told him how to chase into plaster forgot to explain the ide a of .. mark them all, chase them all, fit the cables and boxes..... I hope their "lets make a quick buck on the property comes to pass.. the sooner they go the better...

I hope they told him to keep the cableways vertical, it can get most embarrassing, and potentially dangerous, for any who might come after him if they start knocking off plaster.  Mind you the bloke who had owned our previous house before us could probably give hm a good tip - chase out the paste, add the wiring, then carefully wallpaper over the area where you chased out plaster (without bothering to replaster) before papering.

 

BTW in his day job that chap was a safety officer in a facility a few miles down the road.   Oops, nearly forgot to add - one of the main products of the place where he worked was weapons grade plutonium.

We still have snow and its getting foggy

 Swmbo has a shark she has had it a year and its lasted. That is a major achievement. 

 

She found Dysons too heavy and the Shark is better for the stairs and we have 2 flights.

It has just been announced that Captain Sir Tom Moore has died.  There will be much sadness.

About to post and got the news that Captain Sir Tom has succumbed to COVID. RIP, however I wonder now how the family fee about that vacation??

Is there any report on where he contracted it?

An extraordinary general meeting of the bike club has been called for 10am this morning, to celebrate our release from lockdown.  The 'young feller' member is 40 on Sunday so some ribbing may be occurring.  I'm the next youngest, then there's a 10 year gap to the rest who are all about the same age. 'Old'.

I dont want to be critical of Captain Sir Tom but according to reports his family were with him. Why was this allowed when most of the other victims wernt allowed their families with them including the 10 year old in my sons class that lost his dad to Covid 2 weeks before Christmas

However, inspired by The Queen's Gambit, we bought a Chess set from Aliexpress late November.  It just arrived via Norway today.

The limit of my knowledge of chess is what each piece does.  I know nothing more, far too technical for me to plan six moves ahead!
