Afternoon all, still raining out there but my pond ice is thawing, but it still feels cold. No plans to be going anywhere today, we went to the farm up the road in the car yesterday, got some eggs and came back the long way round to give the car a run, it hadn't moved for two weeks. We are told our GP had a box of vaccine delivered and they were doing the over 80's, they had no idea if or when they would get any more, so we wait and keep out of the way.

Seems like civil servants throughout the world never understand what "best efforts" means...

cost my company a lot of money when the mod wouldn't sign up to specific dates for them to deliver their buildings..then.. they charged liquidated damages as we couldn't deliver to a number of buildings which were not ready.. pah!

Leeds sorting centre is a bit of a black hole at the moment.

Most of our stuff heads that way and we probably get 5-6 email per day asking where their parcel is.

Afternoon all.  Today's weather can best be described as "changeable".  Light drizzle intermittently in the early hours after steady overnight rain gave way to brief sunny spells.  Those in turn gave way to a period of very heavy rain of the large-drop and icy-feeling variety and that has now in its turn been replaced with a chilly but sunny afternoon.  

 

The Gas Man Cometh is Expecteth for the annual safety check - something we cannot avoid as it is a legal requirement that landlords provide this to their tenants - and hopefully to investigate the intermittent failure of the water heater to perform the heating of water.  SWMBO will be shut away in her room for the duration and I shall be required to mask-and-glove-up for the duration of the visit and during the disinfesteration process afterwards.  

 

The full moon greeted me on my way out to the train this morning.

There's a supposed shortage of containers going to (and then from) the UK. Shipments by container from Far East want to terminate in Rotterdam and not go on. Shipping cost are way up to over $25,000 (on average for average size) container. Which, so I'm led to understand, is  five times what they were this time last year.

I dunno whether this is common knowledge in the UK but online in the USA the character know as "Little Krankie" in Edinburgh has been feeding secure information on UK supplies to the EU to curry favor. Whether this is true or not I cannot say...

Now today has turned into a productive one. Parcels posted .. models made and painted. Other projects completed! It is good to clear off more "roundtuit" tasks!

 

Herself put some meat and veg in the slow cooker for tea tonight (it is a piece of Brisket as it happens). I have been instructed to prepare and cook some jacket potatoes and some cauliflower.

 

Shouldn't take long methinks!

Another day yesterday where nothing "happened", I guess that's OK, at least it also means nothing dramatic happened!

 

Weekend also replete with little of substance scheduled. Start our latest "murder investigation" Saturday together with a Zoom dinner with friends.

With LUCK (operative word) I'll get time to tackle the mess in the basement area set aside for the railway, stranger things have happened! 

 

-10 getting the newspaper, overcast and due to remain that way with -3 the high.

Looking at a WARMING trend over the weekend, expecting highs of ZERO both days - whoopeee...

The “threat” to publish vaccine supply figures in Scotland was in response to questions from another political party in Scotland. So that is party politics rather than tantamount to anything. There are some really stupid statements by some Westminster Parliamentarians (supporting Covid deniers) circulating at present who really deserve to be criticised but here is not considered to be the place, Twitter is quite good.

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I have now received a reply from both vendors in Hong Kong re. the delayed parcels. One is sending a replacement to my order and the other explained that though it was sent by air mail it was not by a direct flight to the UK and is now stuck in Abu Dhabi awaiting an onward flight. About the vaccine situation. If a European company is contracted to supply X number of vaccines how can they make them break that contract?  Hopefully this is just sabre rattling by some European politicians that has been picked up by the anti EU press in this country and it will soon blow over. The difficulty is that the second dose has to be of the same vaccine so if supplies for the second jab are stopped what happens?

Afternoon all,

 

Great to see Pete back among us - long time no see so i trust all is well in his bit of the US0fA.  This morning was spent partly with Mrs Stationmaster venturing down to Waitrose during an inter-rainum and then me being called forth to collect her her followed by a 'give the battery a boost' run coming home the lomg way round.  Quite a long way round actually but, on the homeward leg I did note that Wazza had his 'shepherd's hut' takeaway cooking establishment open for trade.  We might try it one day but i'nm not sure if he'd like being asked if he can cook stuff without burning it before we place an order?

 

The lowlight of my excursion was some clown coming the other way who decided that the white line was actually part of his side of the road so i had no option but to hit him or stop (his wheels were in the white line, a lot ogf his vehicle's bodywork was on my side of it so i duly saluted his driving skill in an appropriate manner.  then when tryiong to stop to load up herself and the shopping I came across a trio of the thickest pedestrians know to mankind -two of them just kept walking straight across in front of me as drove towards them while the third did an amazingly realistic impression of a rabbit in the headlights - in broad daylight.  there ain't arf some idiots out there.

 

 I too have had mushrooms and bacon today - but for lunch.  Tonight it will be Mr Singh's excellent fish & chips - best in the town.  The remainder of the morning and most of the afternoon has been devoted to the in depth review of some 'decoration drawings' -  not for the house but for something not allowed to be discussed here; two corrections have been advised.  A bit of relaxation came with the latest online jigsaw from the National Archive

 

I might now have a chance to wander round RMweb although I s'pose I ought really to rest my eyes from 'puter exposure; I doubt if RM web will be going away.
