RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2021 Bins have been binned and Sainsbury's have delivered. They've also had a complaint from yours truly about apples that looked like they've been bounced around the floor judging by the bruising and also short dated bread that wasn't advised. Full credits immediately put on our account so that's OK but I'll have to go up the road for some apples. It started raining again after my earlier post but when it stopped we went for a walk and I improved on yesterday and managed 1.3 miles. Usual pains now happening in lower limbs so I'll be taking it easy for a bit. 1

Popular Post laurenceb
When it comes to blood letting it has to be my right arm. My left arm will not give a drop. Not one. I remember one occasion when the nurse took &7 philles. I pointed out that when the vet takes a sample from one of our cows he only takes one, her answer was "well get the vet to do it next time"! 1 1

Interesting - I have a favourite arm (and vein) for my 'donations' and it is the left arm. Most attempts on my right arm seem to result in me bursting out laughing because it tickles - yes, definitely odd 3 1 16
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) Last time I "gave" blood* I was asked why I was staring so intently at the ongoing procedure. "Just making sure you're not taking too much" said I. *sample only, I'm not allowed to be a donor. Edited January 28, 2021 by grandadbob 16

Bye for now. Reminds me of: "How can you soar with eagles, when you work with turkeys?" 3 14
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2021 Well as soon as I put my shoes on, it persisted down! Then took a call from a friend, who was Debs boss years ago when we were just kids really, to tell us a mutual acquaintance had died - suspect not covid, but a suicide. Not really sure yet as it is all second and third hand, but a shock. Life..... 1

On one occasion about 30 years ago it was a good thing I was as the nurse fainted as she put the needle in for an injection and I was left holding the syringe until I could get another nurse to come and sort out both the injection and the nurse lying on the floor! 13 1 1
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 28, 2021 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Well it was morning when I started reading ER's three pages ago. Like Andrew P I hate injections but it looks as if there's no choice with the covid jab. I've tried to find out if there are alternatives for the covid jab such as an oral dose or patches. There is but at the moment they are not ready to be rolled out yet. 2 hours ago, polybear said: Why on earth the likes of Hitler (who fought in WW1) wanted to send men into that again is a bl00dy mystery to me. He exploited the fear of another conflict to get his way, hence appeasement. He thought that the same would happen over Poland but he thought wrong. It was people like Chamberlain and Daladier who didn't want another conflict and tried desperately to prevent it. The fact that they failed has overshadowed their enormous efforts to prevent war. 8 3 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2021 Jill and I have got our arm puncturing appointments ; first one next Tuesday in Wellington (no, we don't have to wear waterproof footwear) and the second on April 12th at Crewe, which isn't even in Shropshire but was the best they could do. Mind you, as long as we get the requisite armfuls I don't really care about the travel but I feel sorry for those who have to rely on public transport as neither journey would be straightforward to say the least. The other good news is that an ongoing problem with a damn great leylandii in next door's front garden pushing our wall over and cracking it has (I hope) been solved as they have finally admitted that it is their tree that is damaging our property and we have asked a very good local landscaper and tree surgeon to get rid of the bl**dy thing. I'm typing this during my coffee break as today's station routine orders decreed it is a house cl***ing day and there are no exceptions even for those needing workshop time. As Baz would put it - pah! Right, finished the coffee, now back to the bathrooms before the wrath descends. This afternoon will be devoted to work I'm doing for one of the magazines as the deadline is looming (actually it passed recently but a stay of execution has been granted). Have a good one and stay safe. Dave 3

RMweb Premium Popular Post 45156 Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) Afternoon All Editor clearing needed for the first time in some weeks. Much skipping again, partly because 30747 got an email from work saying that her workplace was starting lateral flow testing for all staff, and they all needed to undertake the relevant training. Had to get her employer to forward it to me, as the course would not load to her tablet, so had to be done on one of the laptops, and as 30747 is anything but computer literate, that meant that I had to undertake the training as well. Her boss said that it took about an hour - but there were videos which if watched fully added up to more than that before even taking account of the eight modules. We both feel qualified now to go up the Park And RIde and take jobs as operatives, as the course was largely aimed at operatives, and not at self testers. Having done that, my mojo to do anything else on the laptop diminished to less than zero. And partly because of the fodder run. And about the only excitement was the arrival of a package from eBay containing four R50 LED bulbs and one LED candle bulb which has enabled me to change all the bulbs in the lighting bar in the kitchen, and also the one in the bathroom light, all of which have a nasty habit of blowing quite often. Anyway, hope all are well, and if I have missed anything of significance, could somebody please PM me. TH he generic greetings flow from me like water to the deserving. As she is the younger and healthier partner she has been seeing patients in person since the pandemic started. She wasn’t full time but decided it would help the practice if she went in and helped with the vaccinations. So she had to do an e-learning course on giving people injections. Certified to jab and supervise people sitting down afterwards now! 18 2
