Anyone else fed up already?

Various advice about the undesirability of storing one's brain in a lower undergarment come to mind, especially if the said clothing item belongs to someone else.

A question to those with metered water.  Is there a standing charge element to the bill to cover other services provided?

Our charges have five elements.

The meter reading generates two elements, fresh water used and waste water. These items each have a standing charge. On top of this there is a fixed charge for rainwater removal. If you do not have mains drainage you can get a rebate on some of the elements.

Then a meett up with some club members to set the world to rights and drink  "Landlord Dar" a new name for RamTam.

Which is actually probably a lot better name for the brew, as it is basically just Landlord with added carmel for colour - still a nice brew nonetheless - at least Taylors have held true to their brews over the years, and have never changed their recipes (much to the dismay of many cellarmen over the years, as Landlors has a terrible tendency to be a very lively brew, and which has been known to leave a residue all over a cellar if the spile is inserted too soon.

Apparently they have changed the malt in Landlord Dark. It tasted a bit thin to me but I always preffered Ram Tam to Landlord.

Ey up!

Late riser this morning (at least for me it is).

Blue skies outside, a few odd jobs to get done today including pumping water out of our front garden.

Having the watermeter still means we have a fixed charge. However our water bills are lower than before we had the meter. Result!

Right, time to get some carpe diemed (but only after my mugatea!)

Grey, damp and dismal this morning - and the weather's not much better either. Once muggocoffee No. 2 has been consumed things may well take on a rosier glow though. Jill and I are going to walk into town a bit later, which although only about a mile and a half each way is enough for me most of the time these days. She will be calling in at the surgery to do her daily BP check, which is going quite well and is steadily getting lower each day so she hopes that next week she will get the all clear for her operation. Then we will have some (low carb) lunch before heading back and, I hope, a bit of mo****ing time.

Good to hear that Rick and Beth are improving and thoughts for others who ail. Keep carpe-ing those diems people.

I'm intrigued - what's the gadget that (appears) to be dangling thru' the ceiling in the top right of the photo, possibly with lots of brown string attached.....

I doubt you (or anyone else) would ever have guessed correctly what it is, so I’ll tell you.

What you see is the (downstairs) flow and return manifolds for our central heating system and are being viewed end on. The bits of brown string are small bore copper pipes that go to the various radiators (hall, dining room, living room and kitchen). These will all be lagged once again when all the work is complete.

Yes we have an annual standing charge. Our water is supplied by Essex and Suffolk Water ( head office in Durham!). Sewage charges don’t appear on the bill, we get a separate bill from Anglian Water. We pay a lot less for our water supply and waste with our meter than our neighbours who still pay charges based on the rateable value.

Good morning,

Cloudy but not too dull here. Muggertea made a while ago, muggercorfeee needed soon. I note that Mr P is being rather brave, posting pictures of three unmentionables. I do like the wall-hung watercolours. The collection of metal mugs for tea however seems strange and less than effective.

I didn't get into the Sports Club yesterday as my calls for the keys fell foul of a telephone blocking system recently installed by the key-holder; another effort will be made today. A trip to the nearby town is also necessary to relieve the local building society of some shekels it holds on my behalf for me to pay for the iPad bundle being bought from a friend / neighbour. Otherwise, today will be a fairly quiet day as I prepare for the demands of the morrow at the daughter's mansion. If all goes well tomorrow, I may just get over to Stevie Nidge on Sunday to see an exhibition - and no ChrisF, that is not meant as a description of you.

Peace and love brothers and sisters, peace and love and whatever you get up to, I hope it goes well.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. The lurgi is still in retreat but its left me with a wunny dose, I'm going through tissues like nobodys business. I've managed to lose nearly three kilo's since Christmas, mainly down to cutting my bread consumption by half. This is achieved by replacing the four slices at breakfast with a bowl of porridge made with skimmed milk.

Morning one and all.........

Couldnt sleep so decided to read news online.....usually makes one doze off.........

Wow...... one online newspaper this morning.....35 articles on a 38 year old man who wants to emigrate but his nana isn't happy.

I couldn't be bothered reading any more.

Anyone else fed up already?

I wonder what bad news will be sneaked out behind this?

I believe the Pentagon has a saying 'Never waste a good crisis' for such events.

Interesting - I have not been advised of the existence of this new drug, but since my very diabetes clued up GP retired, I am not getting the developments notified to me on diabtes mangement - can you just let me have the name of the new drug so that I can enquire of my practice - I'd love to get down to even eight injections, as like Beth was, I am on 28 a week.

The drug comes in 2 forms. A daily one called (votaze) and the weekly one dalled Trulicity.  It might be worth aski g about it. She still has the slow release insulin at night and metformin as well.  Good luck.  By yge way the specialist Dr us called a 'diabetolugue' which trips easily off the tongue.
