Had a shock tonight I had a woman on the dating site wanting to chat when I opened the page I had one hell of a fright the poor woman was seriously ugly she was certainly 

at the back of the queue when the looks were given out, page was deleted pronto.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. I have met a few ugly women in my time. I recall one in particular when I went on a Club 18-30 holiday over 40 years ago. I managed to escape her clutches unlike one poor chap who she dragged into her room. Some of the other antics would raise a few eyebrows today and the younger generations just wouldn't believe what went on. Now to catch up on other matters on RMweb, be back later.

I received an email from a well known emporium asking me to check credit card details for a pre-order. This is usually a sign that said item is about to be paid for and hence delivered. Something that I have been waiting for about 12 months or so and will need to be sneaked into the NB household undecover of darkness and away from the authorities.

Good evening everyone 

 

We arrived at the hospital early for Sheila’s appointment, by about 15 minutes which meant that she had time to rest before her blood pressure was taken. It was also some more good news for Sheila, the surgeon was very pleased with her operation and her eyesight has made a significant improvement. So much so that she can read 3 lines more of the eye chart, WITHOUT her glasses on! In the not so distant future, she will only need to wear reading glasses and not the vari-focals she currently wears, which will also save us a few bob too!

 

On our way out she was booked in for her next operation, which will be in the middle of January. We weren’t there long and were back home just after 10:45 in plenty of time for elevens’s. 

 

After that I continued to put up the festive decorations and was completely finished by 4 o’clock this afternoon. We then sat down with a hot drink and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.

 

However, the numpty of the day award has to go to the lady in the car in front at the car park entrance. She didn’t stop close enough to the ticket machine. But instead of driving forward another yard, she got out of her car to get her ticket.

I am now in possession of ratchet straps to connect the shelter's frame to the boat trailer. However, should the fabric decide to detach itself from the frame I have a cunning plan. The fabric will be replaced with steel siding. I happen to have several sheets that someone had no more use for.

It is another fairly chilly morning.  The temperature was around 2°C but there didn't appear to be any frost.

 

Counting down the days now.  I have some annual leave left to take, and it has got to be gone by the end of the year - so Thursday will be my last day in the office for this year.

It is good that we have a lover of culture in our midst.  Step forward Kingzance, who has quoted from Paddy Roberts’s clever song “Follow Me”.  It always amused me that Paddy, a South African by birth, was so good at telling the English about themselves.  I’ve been reminding myself of his pedigree.  He wrote two No.1s, “Softly Softly” which was a hit for Ruby Murray and “Lay Down Your Arms” for Anne Shelton.  “Lay Down Your Arms”, if I recall correctly, was produced by Joe Meek, who obtained the sound of marching troops with a box of gravel being shaken.  This thread is nothing if not cultural.

 

I have a dental check-up this morning.  The dentist has obviously heard that my memory is failing, for I have had two reminder phone calls.  One was from a friendly human.  The other had been automated in some way.  When the phone rang there was too long a pause and I was just on the point of reporting a silent call as the voice on the other end spluttered into life.  There must be a way of doing it better.  I do not enjoy visits to the dentist but with any luck he will find nothing that needs doing.  Yeah, right.

 

The line-up for Sidmouth was announced yesterday.  I am minded to get my season ticket and all the trimmings before I go to Switzerland, leaving the two pre-festival concerts for further consideration.  I think the price being asked for Fisherman’s Friends is on the high side but I may feel differently when I return from holiday.  Decisions, decisions.

My sleep catch up from the weekend has been achieved. Today will be catch up day.

 

The lawn mower is being taken away to be serviced today. This may be more expensive than usual as it has one or two petrol leak problems. Pah!

 

Her indoors has to attend an Over 60s Cricket AGM tonight so I may be able to get so e muddling done today. I have a list of items which need "finishing" and today could be a good day for it. Does everyone else have the same problem with superglue as I do? As in, it will stick to me but not to the two items it should be fastening together?

 

Grab today and fill every minute with so ething positi e.

5 hours + 1.5 hours a good nights sleep for me...

 

Ben I'm comfy and Warm Collie spent most of his time in bed this morning, he definitely didn't want to go out in the cold and frost in Much Scraping on the Glass.

Frosted cars all the way into work, unmelted by the ever increasing amounts of Blackpool illuminations..

 

Ben did get extra rations of stilton last night... I had put some stilton on a plate and was wrestling with the wrapping of some different cheese when I knocked the plate off of the worktop..

Ben sat in the kitchen door way, looked at the cheese, looked at me, looked at the cheese , looked at me.. but didn't move, until after I picked up the unbroken plate, I said... go on then... and he hoovered up all the broken pieces of broken stilton before returning to the doorway..

 

The road in Wroxham is semi flooded as the high tide overnight coincided with those northerly winds, it should drain away today as the wind shifts..

 

Yesterdays work on the major system went well, I am returning to that this Morning. The boss is tour guide today, we have a customers open day, it will be interesting to see how many turn up...

 

I'll be off home smartly today, as I have to drive 25 miles home, bath , get kilted up, drive another 25 miles, to The MRC Christmas dinner. It was very successful last year so we've used the same http://www.banninghamcrown.co.uk/ this year..

we of course take a small plastic box , for leftovers for Ben..

 

Time to... wander down the lab and get started...

Morning all.

 

I've not been around due to a rather heavy visit from the Black Dog, several weeks now and affecting everything. Despite quite a few nice things happening and more in the offing I'm battered down by it all, disrupted sleep patterns, lethargy and so on. Very much Brexit related, and how it is likely to completely change my lifestyle for the worse. 

 

Then I had a serious Grandad Bob moment (last Saturday week). What happened? Well, it was a lovely, frosty morning so I went out to take some pictures of the frost-dusted plants on the patio. In shorts. Forgetting that I'm not 30 any more, that ice is slippery and sandals don't have grippy soles I did the Photographer's Crouch (right leg bent, left leg stretched out to the side) and just slipped. Impromptu splits, strained/torn thigh, grazed bum, then slid (still doing the splits) down the steps of the patio, ripping the flesh of my ankle, shin and inner thigh off on the edge of the paving. Dropped the camera, but that seems OK. Proud of myself that the first thing I did after was make sure I got the photo.

 

Pretty painful, so I covered it in healing gel, took painkillers and felt a bit stupid. A week on I'm just getting back to being able to walk, as it seems I also twisted my ankle and my left foot is swollen. The pain for the last week has been less than pleasant, and added to the Black Dog hasn't made me a happy bunny.

Today I'm off to have lunch with my oldest, bestest friend in Kingston - cabs both ways - and I hope that will do something to lift my mood.

Ours definitely doesn't leak. Its electric and now 25 years old- fingers crossed in saying that, it keeps on working next year!

 

Very soon I will be back in the shed working on the boards. Today they will get put on the legs for the first time with alignment dowels formed out of picture hanging plates etc. Might even get the cork base down.

 

The BLI split gear loco now has a replacement gear and running fine on the test track. Owner coming to collect next week. So far just one project I have not yet been able to complete for people and that's due to the decoder having to go off for repair / replacement. After Xmas I should try to ramp up the crust earning.

 

No beer today. Other half is still recovering from Sundays 'bottle share' - she over indulged more than she should have done. However tomorrow will have a Beer o'clock at some point.

 

Other half has been chatting to a girl at the station who has just moved to the area form London Bridge - hope she knows what she's let her self in for on the GW Worms.

Took Dad to Royal Stoke hospital for a cardiologist appointment yesterday. After the now usual half hour battle to find somewhere to park followed by the trek to the right department, he was taken away for an ECG and other preliminaries. Another hour went by and he finally got in to see a doctor who expressed surprise that Dad had a pacemaker, as his notes didn't record that, as well as stating that the appontment was actually unnecessary as all investigations had seemingly been carried out at a previous appointment at Telford. Apart from wasting our time, fuel, parking fee etc., I wonder what that fiasco cost the NHS?

 

Then picked up SWMBO from the station on her return from the expedition to darkest Surrey and upon re-entry to chez nous manufactured a Mexican chicken dish for dinner.

 

Today is the real start of get ready for Christmas with writing of cards, erecting of tree, baking various goodies etc. scheduled over the week ahead. Deepest joy........

The Meh remains and disturbed sleep last night such that I dozed off at 06:30! I think I will offer apologies to the Sport Club and the Cribbage group rather than go out this evening. SWMBO is off out soon to buy a birthday card for a friend and has a session with her coiffurist this afternoon. If I had hoped to do muddling, that has been Kiboshed as the list of “to do’s” has already been handed out! I must acquire some logs / saw up some wood as my usual source can’t do anything until next week - apparently some seasonal sleigh has been fitted with a wood-fired auxiliary boiler and trials are going as well as RN ship refits so other consumers are going without (see thread on a shrinking navy).
 

My troubles are small in comparison to an increasing number on here, I wish you all well. Daughter and mutt just arrived so must go...

Good morning everyone 

 

It’s raining again! Sheila has just left for the dentist as over the weekend she dislodged her crown and he will be having a look and assessing the damage! Upon her return WE are going to complete the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix together, which will mean a significantly larger bill than usual, but no hum!

 

After that there aren’t any plans as such other than to finish making the fruit tea loaf I left soaking overnight.
