Most modern ships are soooo ugly, I am of course stuck in the 60's and 70's for such things, the vessels I served on. We have lost roof tiles on two occassions over the years when its bad so we wont get much sleep till it all calms down. Simples we put the cat basket, containing the cat, on the scales and get a weight then while the vet is attending to the cat I go and weigh the empty basket - deduct one number from the other and we have the weight of the cat. George is strange. He happily sits through the examination but the second the vet tried to put him on the scale he started freaking out. No rhyme or reason. Think I'll crash out soon as we've a 5-hour drive ahead tomorrow. My ride on the half on Line 4 today was composed of 2134, 2161 and 928, and I was happy that these three cars harmonised very well! This would be the south end of the line at Holzhäuser Straße in Stötteritz… …and this is Landsberger Straße on the opposite end of the city. There's a German Army barracks behind the brick wall on the far side of the road. As a student working in the Post Office over Christmas, I delivered mail on Christmas Day 1965, but not in years after that. Sky is still working... Neil(NHN), you were absolutely right on the origins of the 'Zefyros' in Killybegs harbour - it was built by Sasebo, Japan, and is owned by Lavinio of Athens. I don't think it looks bad as a 1990 build - I looked it up on line but as I'm not registered with any of the shipping sites, I couldn't find out about my favourite part, the engines. Gleaned that it is 141m long with a 16m beam, and whatever propels it is capable of maintaining 18 knots. I posted about the carrying capacity earlier - a lot of fish fingers? PhilJW, thanks for your interest in the Relay for Life. The 2016 Clacton event is scheduled for July 16th, seven days after my birthday. If you type 'Relay for Life 2016' in to Google, the Cancer Research UK site comes up and there is a box for your post code which then brings a list of the venues nearest to you. The Clacton one was hosted in 2015 by an energetic young man called Darren, who only just survived testicular cancer, and now gives a lot of his time to raising both money and awareness for the cause. (His policeman brother was a customer of mine at the garage!). Over the last six years they have raised over £400K! I will of course post on developments as the year progresses. Baz, I know that Richard (HH) might correct me but I understand that the biggest strength of the Kalasnikov is its virtual indestructability! Apparently it is still fairly accurate after all sorts of abuse, and as you point out, it rarely just wounds! The same of course goes for the kit that the modern law enforcement officers carry, and as Pete said, you have to neutralise them if you can. It's tough to reason with someone who is happy to die because they are convinced they are going on to a better place! (Apologies if I've caused any offence by straying towards politics and religion). On a happier note, Have a great holiday Dom and Elise! I was pleased to watch the England v France soccer match tonight, a marvellous demonstration of solidarity in the face of current threat level, and a lovely moment when the French player who lost his cousin in the atrocity came on to the pitch as a sub - a large number of the English fans warmly applauded. We're now climbing the hump, and not much planned for tomorrow, but as we know only too well, that might change. Old f*rts day at B&Q and I need a couple of small items and I might call for an estimate at the demon barbers that I've been using for thirty years or more - if it gets much longer I'll have to start writing poetry!
