I noticed this village sign on my journey home last week, this morning I passed through again, so I stopped and grabbed a photo 20130808_075941.jpg Have a good day all. What a brilliant timeline...I can just imagine the plough coupled up behind the loco...combine harvester style....and wagons collecting the produce... RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 8, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 8, 2013 Morning all, And hoping hippos' take care when dealing with shed roofs and that Bob will actually get some dinner this evening - plus a good hols for Andrew off on the nicest and most civilised way to reach 'abroad'. And clearly the topiary can't have been done by Bob (or me come to that) so who's the ER culprit I wonder? Right back to the mundane - new memory cards for both cameras duly formatted, one battery charged so far, long(er) zoom lens duly cleaned (including several minutes worrying about what looked like some sort of internal abrasive damage only to finally work out it was a reflection of the windows, doh!), old uv filter for the big lens also cleaned, spare filters etc packed - must remember to pick up the bag and the battery chargers for both cameras! Noted that this week's passenger changeover took place in Guernsey - which would be a bit awkward but as next week is a crew change day I'm fairly sure it will be a mainland port and might even be Swansea as currently booked. RMweb Gold Donw Posted August 8, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 8, 2013 The thing with all those mega pixels is you should be able to blow up the image to see a small pice assuming the Lens and chip are good enough. The pictures taken with my Canon 5MP Ixus camera were superb quality but the zoom wasn't good enough for wildlife etc. I have a Canon EOS450 I think its 12MP it is an SLR so I have an 18-55 and 55-250 lens. I don't think the image quality is that much better if any but the wide angle can take more panoramic shots and the telephoto can get wildlife shots I would not get with the IXUS as I could get close enough. However I found it a little bulking when hiking with the dogs and always had the wrong lens in so I bought a Fugi something or other bridge camera 14MP 15x zoom however the lens is not as good as either of the cannon ones but with a decent zoom and it being handy I have got some good shots. Currently I am looking at some of the better compact cameras zooms of around 20x pocket sized about 12MP. If I was buying now I would try one first. Well I would try one now but Marion thinks I have probably spent enough on cameras and I am still spending quite a bit on trains so I may bide my time. I am guessing that this sign includes a train to remember the Mid Suffolk Light Railway that ran from Haughley to Laxfield. I live not far from the museum dedicated to it at Brockford. By coincidence, SWMBO was voicing the same opinion last evening, saying that, in years to come, there will be no photographic memories. As technology changes, the storage methods are, too, becoming obsolete. Just think of VCRs - mine hasn't been used for five years or more and is probably seized up by now. Fortunately Mrs Stationmaster is not much of the clothes and shoe buying sort (but she does like handbags) however as I point out to her (and she to me it must be said) she has her money to spend on her hobbies and I have mine to spend on my hobbies.
