RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted 19 hours ago RMweb Premium Share Posted 19 hours ago Good morning everyone The sun is shining and the sky is blue, but we must have had some rain last night, because the arbour roof is wet, but it's not raining now. I’ll shortly be setting off to the butchers for the weekly meat rations and a pork pie for today’s dinner. Then it’s off to the Trafford Centre for a few more bits and pieces, I’ll also call at the bank to get some money out for tomorrow’s visit to the model railway exhibition in Warrington. Back later. Hmm not so certain about that Chimpy me old chum. If you can't see them, you don't know what there getting up to. Better to keep them in sight, so that when they are 'attending the briefing' prior to going over the top, you'll at least have some warning to man the barricades. Easy for you to say, you didnt have to put up with their rubbish dance music booming out every Saturday night. - Say what you like about Hip Hop, but I'd take that every day over their stupid rip-off version - Clip Clop, the lamest musical sub-genre of them all!! RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted 18 hours ago RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted 18 hours ago Another fine morning - which I need after a bad night. Just after tea yesterday I suddenly felt very poorly and wondered what on earth was wrong. I felt I couldn't concentrate, the weight of the world was suddenly on my shoulders and I felt like a good cry. I didn't have to wait long, my IBS decided to play up so I spent a lot of the evening on the loo. By bedtime I felt somewhat better but I went to bed feeling weak and weary. I think I actually slept quite a lot but at the time it felt as though I was awake. This morning I feel better but fragile. Apart from going to the podiatrist I shall not do much today, certainly nothing involving much energy expenditure and I am not at all sure I will do much tomorrow. I did work out that the main culprit was the salmon and its herby dressing (just don't ask how I worked it out) I ate on Wednesday but have also realised that in the past couple of weeks I have eaten a number of things I don't often have becasue they can upset me. So it is time to go back to a bland simple diet and to return to keeping a note of what I eat and how my gut behaves. So simple Weetabix and toast, ordinary biscuits, basic salads, plain chicken, plain fish and so on. Then it should settle down until the next time. The only other things I have to do today is some church paperwork which should be done by lunchtime. David
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted 18 hours ago RMweb Premium Share Posted 18 hours ago Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not a bad night last night, six hours sleep in all but when I went to move out of bed every joint protested vigorously so pills were taken. Couldn't see the moon last night as the fist and mog rolled in and it's still hanging about this morning. Not a lot of shopping to do, just a few essentials such as bread milk and eggs but thats for later.

Coombe Barton
As the weather forecast is iffy and changeable over the next few days and is subject to frequent modification I will have to judge the best time to give the lawn a trim prior to the garden bin collection on Wednesday. The new presence of storm Ashley is changing the forecast. The timing trick is to judge when the squelchiness has diminished before the next set of squelchiness causing precipitation. It's an exciting life now I've retired. I attended (and joined) the local history (for want of a better tem) society last night. Found that I was one of the youngest there. I also found some odd ideas present. 7 2

RMweb Premium polybear Posted 17 hours ago RMweb Premium Share Posted 17 hours ago BH.... A pretty decent zed last night - Tick. Then it was down to collect a pair of strides that have been shortened at the local Dry Cleaners - I've yet to try/inspect.... After that a quick dash into the Co-op for a container of Milk that I don't actually need yet - but the date on the bottle is long so it'll not get wasted; I also spied a collection of five items (none of which iD would approve of....) "on a very good deal" in the freezer cabinet - buddy over the road** will get one of them. It seems NNND is foxtrotting off to Sicily for 12 days - Bear was given a bag of veg that would've been wasted otherwise, some of which has subsequently been shared with another neighbour. I couldn't persuade her that the Celery was meant for her as well though..... I did intend to chew the green stuff in the garden with Quentin the Qualcast this morning - but the mist has put paid to that idea. Poo. A certain strange orange ball in the sky is promised over Bear Towers later so it'll get done then, no matter what. **Buddy OTR mentioned to Bear yesterday that he's decided that a certain organisation (famed for going round the streets knocking on doors 😉) weren't all they appeared to be after all; I was "somewhat concerned" when he told me some months ago that he was starting to attend their meetings (he'd never showed an interest in anything similar before) and suggested he go slowly and tread carefully etc. Well now he's been seeing a side to them that he described as akin to bullying/controlling etc. and has decided he wants nothing more to do with them; he's now found that others have left for similar reasons. I think he's done the right thing. BG 11 3

I said that I wasn't interested in signing up for a monthly amount but I'd give him a one-off donation. He wasn't interested in that, he told me that they weren't set up to take single donations. What's that all about? Seems less about helping the charity they are claiming to represent and more about sucking me dry. Charities use these paid collectors as one income stream. If I am going to give, I will initiate the process. 9 2
