Friend recently had #1 Cataract removed.  After one week (when he was allowed to remove the dressing) he noticed the clarity and richness of colours

Did your friend have the cataract removed or the lens replaced.  Mine was lens replacement and no dressing was needed and vision was back to normal almost straight away, albeit with slightly soft focus for a day or two.

First, the Optician for a decent eye test and eye health check; if your fears are correct I'd imagine they'll refer you to your Doc for further action

My issues were first spotted by my optician (you know, the one you should have gone to) and they referred me directly to the local eye hospital.

A fine fresh sunny morning.  I slept well but feel weary so in  ashort while i'll just go somewhere and have a quiet gentle walk before settling down to do something useful.

For some time there has been some paperwork concerning my funeral on my desk.  I have a funeral plan but have been putting off giving details of what I would like to happen on the day to the undertakers - yet it is really on a few lines of writing - details of the grave plot, what I want in a church dervice or at the graveside and so on.  I really must get it done, it would be a load off my mind.

Apart from that there is nothing vital, I might sort out a few more paperbacks to go to a charity shop.  It is also about time I put away my short sleeve shirts as I don't think I'll need them again this year.

I am due an opticians appointment in early November, I always worry a bit as I had a bleed on my retina some years ago though when tested I can read the bottom line of the chart with my glasses on.  Fortunately it repaired itself and I didn't need tratment.

From what I understand at least one of the above conditions is best treated early as undoing damage is difficult/impossible.

This Health advice was brought to you today by Dr Bear - payment in Cake** is acceptable....

(**But no Coffee or real Cream....)

I am going to see the specialist optician again in October so I will try there first, it has got to the point where I do not enjoy night driving at all especially in the rain. I have a quarter of my birthday chocolate cake left will that be OK? Billed as Tesco's finest it isn't very big and somewhat dry.

Good morning everyone

A bright, sunny start to the day here in England’s northwest corner, it would be great to be able to spend the day in the garden, but for the next week or so, this is still verboten! But, next week I should be able to do some light jobs outside then, which I’m SOOOOOOO looking forward to. So, I’ll be spending most of today either pottering about in the cellar or sat at the dining room table, as I’ve got plenty of little things I can be getting on with.

Back later.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. @polybear reminded me that its about time I purchased a new gilet. I'm a bit wary about buying one online as I like to have inside pockets which not all of them have. So I looked on E-bay and found one that had at least two inside pockets, one with a zip. They were described as cargo jackets rather than gilets, and there was a better selection under cargo jackets.

I gave up wearing long sleeve shirts years ago - the sleeves just got in the way as I was forever rolling them up. And then they got wet if I didn't roll them up.

Bear’s new examples has inside pockets such as that

Neil, I have suffered from anxiety attacks for years, but when confronted with various surgeries, I've manages to convince myself that THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

As Bear says, it's not physical, but psychological.  I've had plenty surgery in my time, including three fairly major events as well as childhood tonsils etc,  and various bits stitched whilst awake, it is the fact it is eyes.  They'll have to give me their very best sweeties to get me through the door.

ION Morning world, 16c so there's an extraordinary meeting of the old farts, ie not a Friday, we're off out for brunch as it is lovely and sunny, and even still.  Summer is a bit late.

Perhaps you have missed my point.  Since this is going to be such a psychological issue, tell the surgeon and ask if you can have it done under general anaesthetic rather than the usual local.

OK, so it’s GB News (but the Telegraph run the same story):

Bear could have a REAL Rant if that does happen; I suspect several other ER’ers may join in…..

They are going for the emotional bit aren’t they? It isn’t just widows it is “single occupancy houses”. My widowed mother in law has more pension (obviously not state pension!) income now than our household income before Aditi retired.  Mil is spending it nearly all on care costs though.

Quite the moon out this evening, you could read a book by it!

Lovely shot indeed. I was working 6Z50 from Brum to Banbury in the small hours today and the moon seemed to be following me along the horizon around Cropredy, it was quite surreal in a way.

I possibly did, as that is exactly what I will be asking for!  As I said I have had plenty gory surgery in the last 10 years, but I was asleep (the foot hurt plenty enough once I awoke though!) - the prospect of seeing/knowing what was going on with eyes is more than my brain can cope with.  Anything else OK, not eyes.  Euuww.

After I posted my picture of last night's moon, I had a play with the image in Mac Photos Edit. Of the dozen or so variations, this was my favourite:

Not a lot today, apart from some more sorting out and clearing up.
