In one episode a cricketer was killed by an exploding cricket bat. The killer had hollowed out the bat and filled the void with nitroglycerin. As soon as he hit the ball the bat exploded killing the batsman. For those that remember "Brass" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass_(TV_series) ), they developed a cricket ball, know as the Larwood which exploded when hit. Handy for getting out those opposition batsmen with good defence. Adrian 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 19, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) Good evening everyone I began my cloud painting this morning, by first painting over the work I’d done earlier in the week. It finally dawned on me what it was I wasn’t happy about with them, they were too big! I then mixed a large amount of a very light grey and began by painting the low clouds that will be just above the horizon and then adding white and blue streaks and further grey streaks. I then painted some slightly larger clouds (but smaller than the ones I’d painted over), by the time I’d finished for the day, I’d painted about 1/3rd (about 15) of wall so far. I’ve included a few photos of today’s effort. There’s still a bit more to do on this section, like adding highlights etc, but overall I’m very pleased with how they’ve turned out. The pencil line visible in the photos, is the baseboard top will be. The gap in between is where the ground (both painted and 3D) will go. Spent most of this evening watching BBC2. Some interesting programs including one on Caribbean wildlife, most interesting. Dinner tonight was a risotto, straight out of the package and into the microwave, followed by a bread and butter pudding. Just as well my arteries are made of stern stuff. That has just reminded me...I made bread pudding, yesterday, and have forgotten all about it. Double helpings, tomorrow, then. 😋 Wetnwindy all day in these parts and not very warm 8C. Slow off the mark, today, but I did get a few toots on the flute though it was pretty rough going <<or was that the weavva?>> First off was a couple of exercises to 27 beats per minute (allowing 4 notes per beat) on my beat box and 8 beats to a line. After finding it difficult to match a couple of the exercises to this I abandoned the project and returned to the song using 27 then 30 bpm. Song: first line fine. Second line too stretched out. After what seemed an age, I eventually worked out there were a few notes that I had not shortened when using the faster speeds. Once that was settled, and the reworked notes fitted the beat, I started on Lines 3 and 4 and noted similar timing issues and managed to fix them as well. There was also some training of fingers to make some of the twiddly bits more consistent while trying to overcome some of the symptoms of ageing. I put it this way - I managed to train my left hand fingers to form some very awkward shapes when playing guitar, so I can make those fingers perform some tricky bits on the wee flute. The whole of my going Indian has been built on this "philosophy." A whole new world - different form of notation, different musical forms, scales and instruments, with different language, etc etc... but hey, when I started at the age of nine - I knew NOTHING about music - I just got on with what was put in front of me - and without the bright colours, large alphabet letters, or pictures kids get given, today - just plain music and you picked it all up up as you went along. OK I google a lot of information now, but then I want to run before I can crawl. <<Don't we all?>>.

RMweb Premium Popular Post jjb1970 Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 20, 2023 Greetings from Hong Kong, it's lovely here, now blue sky and pleasantly cool without being cold. I'm staying in Kowloon near Nathan Road and the down town area is heaving, Hong Kong had a very hard few years with the pandemic and political issues but it looks like it is recovering. Certainly as a visitor I see no signs of a city on skid row (well, no more than you always saw in HK when you left the beaten track). Many years ago I always much preferred HK over Singapore, the two big rivals in so many ways (financial services, air travel, container shipping and much else) as there was an edginess and excitement that safe and rather sterile Singapore never had. You can have a great time in HK and the night life is great. Now, at 53 and with two teenagers my attitude has flipped 180 degrees. The properties that once made Singapore a bit dull (everything is organized, safe, there's a degree of sterility) are now what attracts me to the place. 20

RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 20, 2023 Morning all. I’m not sure what the weather is like as it is still dark. We will be travelling round a bit more of the M25 than our usual trip to Enfield. We like to meet up with my cousin somewhere between where she lives in Solihull and where we live. We usually choose a National Trust property. We were going to Waddesdon but it is shut today so we we will go to Hughenden Manor. It has a cafe and parking so I will be happy. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 20, 2023 Depends on which big house, the relevant person failed on 7 occasions to get into the big house on a large British river. He was a member of a similar place on 4 occasions the other side of some salty water.. we too don't watch said programme. Mooring Awl, 4 hours sleep , 3 hours intermittent sleep. Ben I'd like to go out Collie requested patrol, however he wasn't very enthusiastic, tail down , slow plod, wanted a stroke and encouragement. Then when we got back in he changed places several times before settling back in his pit. For myself my back is aching probably a consequence of leaning out keeping a boat upright yesterday. Outside it's dull grey, and still squelchy underfoot. Various items for the casting of copies of lorries have been ordered while on discount from the house of strong ladies. Plans for today. There's some slabs to be moved if my back is up to it, Along with some driveway digging .. Time for a muggacoffee.
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 20, 2023 Morning, from a wet n windy rock. 11c is OK though. No orders for the day have been left, but a lazy one bar doing the washing will do nicely. I left ships in both Honkers and Singers, probably the night life in Honkers was rather better but had a good time in Singers too, waiting for a flight home. The rain in Singapore was heavier....never seen heavier, but it doesn't last long.
Popular Post Flanged Wheel
Had a fantastic three nights in Hong Kong in 2008. Looking forward to going back next year. Never been to Singapore so can’t compare but we’ll be there in 3 weeks for a couple of days so will report back. Mind you, given New Zealand’s performance so far, we might never leave… (The tent survived the scrutiny of the bio security inspection team - glad to see that my deep cleaning skills have found a use). 26

Or they gave me someone else's card? A Turdycurses in any event. I'll phone the Chemist who did it later to see if they can help. 12

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 20, 2023 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Another good night last night with no call outs from bladder control and even Arthur Itis was asleep. This is in the news. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-67371751 Many years ago I had a friend who's 17 year old daughter died of CS while waiting for a lung-heart donor. She was a bright intelligent girl with ambitions to be a doctor. How can anyone put a price on a young persons life. 1
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2023 After yet more rain overnight it is dry here at the moment and the cloud is getting slightly lighter. I think that's about the best it will be today. I had a better night's sleep, have had breakfast, dealt with a pile of e mails I didn't need to read etc. I am now sitting waiting for the GP's phone call, scheduled for about now. Once again there isn't anything really planned for today, at various times I will need to attend to the washing machine as there are two loads and they will need drying, it isn't worth putting them outside to dry. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted November 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 20, 2023 Good morning everyone Although it’s not raining, the weather doesn’t look good today at all, looking as though it’ll rain at any minute. So, as I’m on door answering duties, I’ll continue with the cloud painting in the cellar. With a bit of luck, I’ll get another section of the wall done today, which will be one more step towards completion. Back later. Brian
