Firefox was  often like that for some months, i.e. clicking next page often took me to the bottom of next page, but occasionally to the top. For the past week or two it often takes me to the top of the current page, in those cases I sometimes like on the numbered next page - I now tend to assume I'll end at the bottom if it is the next page.

Havent managed to dodge taking mil out. Even worse than anticipated, been to Skipton and got stuck in a traffic jam on the way home. Now sat in car with Hovis  in Keighley while swbo and mil look round an out of town shopping centre . PAH!

Hopefully we’ll get home tonight.

Evening All

 

Been a busy day, but cold and dry.
 

Swung by to check out Rail Blue Class 207 DEMU at Sheffield Park this afternoon. 
 

 Well mostly Rail Blue….

Takes me back to my yoof, thumping in and out of Uckfield. 
 

Day off tomorrow, we’ll sort of.

Awaiting Vauxhall contacting me, as on Tuesday I managed to snap the only key that I had for my 20 year old MK4 Astra. Luckily the end bit of about 10mm fell off as I pull it out of the ignition. 
Managed to lock it with the central locking and as I have the programmed chip it only cost £78 for a replacement key. So I have had to use my Defender 110 TD5 for the last couple of days. Not much fun in the early mornings with -6c temperatures, as it takes 25 minutes for the heating to actually heat up the interior. Tonight my fingers didn’t really defrost until I arrived home.

I’ve incorporated bin day into my exercise routine…they seem to leave the empty bins in the most unlikely of places, seemingly as far away from where you leave them as possible. Still, gets the step count up I suppose.

Much depends on where precisely one is. While basking in the Sydney glow, your neck of the woods is better than most.

 

I'm not sure where you fall but the region is on the fringe (according to this website).

It's all bright purple where I live.

My go-to place for darkness is a few km up the road at Spring Creek, in particular this spot, because its got a huge sky visible and lines of hills that block the city light on the eastern horizon. Havent had a chance to try out the Pixel here since I got it though because the 5km of gravel road is just a potholed mess after the rains and the thought of changing a wheel in the pitch dark does not appeal! Also  the wildlife has gone into a breeding frenzy due to all the feed around and wombats and roos just leap out in front of you along here.

Evening All(again),

Managed to get home by about 8:30 but not without incident. A couple of miles from home a warning light came on indicating low pressure in one of the tyre but nothing obvious so  carried on home. Further inspection tomorrow. Good job a bird shat on my heard earlier today or the day could have been even worse!

Your night sky pollution at home is comparable to that of my friends' in central Oregon. They do live in a suburban neighbourhood on the outskirts of town, but there is dark sky around them. It makes an enormous difference.

 

Here it is not too far to drive to see properly dark sky, but finding 'safe' public places to stop without the view restricted by tall firs is not easy. At this time of year it is pointless anyway. We've had measurable rain just about every day this year and plenty of cloud when it isn't raining. Plus it is cold - not frigid Minnesota cold, but we are forecast to have freezing temperatures overnight.

The resignation of a certain p.m. was a bit of a surprise - from an outside view I reckon she's done pretty well (and a whole lot better than many other p.m's around the world have managed).

I don't really miss much about working at sea, but one thing I do miss is the night sky. On a clear night in mid-ocean it can be like seeing the night sky for the first time.

We are very lucky.  For dark sky all I need to do is to go out into the back garden after 22.15 when the street lights go off.  It's stunning.  Here we still have white stuff this morning so I will be out for a walk to take some photos of part timers houses in the snow, at their request.  Then, all being well an afternoon of train spotting.  What's not to like about that plan.

Morning, 4c on the rock and dry - for now.

 

Dark skies are everywhere here outside of the Big City, street lights go off at midnight in our village.  It gets proper dark, with no industry etc.  I believe there are designated dark skies spots, but really our back garden is pretty good with only one 'security' light to deal with, which is actually manually controlled in a house off to one side at the back, there's nothing directly behind us bar trees. 

 

The one 'offender' is to allow a dog to see while it does its ablutions apparently, but shines into next-door-but-one's lounge!  Words have been had by them, and they have re-aligned it and remember to turn it off now.  Just as well or it would have an arrow in it......

 

Off to the Old Farts Bike Club at 10, then taking friend Jayne to the airport this afternoon, she's off to visit family darn sarf in Kent.  Wherever that is.

....whilst a certain "other" pm is in the news for (apparently) briefly removing his seat belt whilst travelling as a passenger in a car.  Naturally this is considered worthy of National Headline news and a Police investigation;  apparently "if it goes to court" the maximum fine is £500.  He could struggle to pay that......

Of course this'll quickly escalate and his fitness to do the job will be brought into question, with calls for his resignation and interviews being opened to all-comers......

 

**For the avoidance of any doubt the above Rant is to do with the law and nothing whatsoever to do with the "P" word, cos' that would be naughty......😉**

Mooring Awl,

Couldn't get to sleep again as brain wouldn't shut up, had about 5 hours in total.

 

Light pollution, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, and Cromer are all around 20 to 25 miles away, so that's good, just a distant glow reflected by clouds. But Bacton Gas works on the coast, is only around 7 miles away to the north west, and that's lit up with a large amount of sodiums.

 

Someone on my route to and from the MRC has a large LED light illuminating their back garden, it also shines directly into my eyes as i drive back home, as the road aims directly at their back garden till just before it.

 

Ben the I want out Collie dragged me out at 06:30 ish. By which some sunlight had arrived, it's chilly out there with a northerly wind. The grass is generally not frosty, just the most prone areas showing some.

Forecast of showers today, white or blue is unknown.

 

Plans for today. 

Finish one set of doors,

Make a kit of parts for another set of doors.
