Good moaning from a damp and getting wetter Charente.  Various things got done yesterday and a pleasant evening watching telly ensued. Happy Valley is superb.

Today is log barrowing day otherwise we will get cold.  After that I may even try to get some shed time.  I also need to collect a prescription.  Mask wearing is still mandatory in health care facilities which includes pharmacies.

Ttfn.

I found it whilst a was looking for info or photos of a Supermarine Walrus, which will be my next model aircraft subject.

Morning All (this should be at the top but I can’t move it on the phone …..)

That looks good.    Just got to build the post for it now😆

Ah the Walrus!   A loveable ugly-duckling of an aeroplane.   A favourite of mine since I built a 1/48 scale version from a little known (at least to me) manufacturer back n the 70’s.   The name of the manufacturer completely escapes me and the kit was a product of its time and a bit of a Curate’s egg.

Time to drink coffee and get up I think.

Back later.

Bear here.....

I watched the Spare being interviewed last night - ok in general I thought; it was certainly true what he said regarding the Palace silence after Tw@t Clarkson's comments, yet when "they" screwed up at a Palace Reception it was all hands on deck.

Today sees plumbing day; as it involves no sanding then Bear is a lot happier.  Hopefully nothing will happen to change that.....

Bear gone.

Good morning all,

Some blue sky here with a hint of brightness in the East.  A bright and breezy day as well as some showers forecast.  Currently 5°C and it may reach 8°C.

Up a bit later than usual as there doesn't seem to be a need to gettamoveon.  A couple of parcels from Amazon are due but that's about all the excitement happening here today.

Have a good one,

Bob.

Thankfully as I see it our GP surgeries have stuck to masks whenever inside their premises.  Always make sure that I have one with me anyway but prefer to keep distance whenever possible.  This last weekend a parking app actually worked for the very first time, a relief, since having to telephone each time is expensive as have not had loose cash since the lockdowns began and, thinking about it, have not visited a bank during that time.  Thankfully SWMBO does all the shopping.  Cards for fuel but do not use the pumps where you have to state how much fuel you want before use - hate the idea as my normal is to 'fill-up', cannot understand those who put in £20 etc. each time.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not a bad night last night but as it was a bit chilly so I put the fan heater on, then I fell asleep. This morning the temperature in the bedroom was 29C.! I checked the monitor this morning and AAAGH! At least it kept Arthur Itis away. I think I will start wearing a mask when out and about now. Fortunately I have a packet of masks unused from last time.

Was it SMER by any chance?

Good morning everyone

A bright and sunny start to the day here in England’s northwest corner, but we had quite a bit of rain fall last night. Well it’s back to normal now, once again I’ll be completing the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix on a Monday morning. Apart from that, there’s not a lot else planned for today. I might do a bit more surfing of that internet site I found last night.

I’d best get a move on, back later.

Morning all,

A better night than some I've had lately, though an early hours bathroom visit did keep me awake, felt like a mid-watch all hands sail change, though thankfully with less splashing... The weather looks changeable, we've had blue sky, peltitdoons and rainbows already. The robin joined the blue-tit on the nuts at breakfast time, though they alternated, never on the feeder simultaneously, even though as they fed from opposite sides, they could have.

For those who like carbs: https://www.theguardian.com/food/2023/jan/09/carb-heaven-21-loaded-fries-recipes-to-try-at-home-from-kimchi-to-spicy-sausage - I suspect it'll be a 'marmite' article but if your system can cope with such dishes, it could be worth a scan. I actually know them as 'dirty' fries rather than loaded.

I recall the Walrus by its service nickname (Shagbat) though I also remember being told some knew it as the flying kettle (water splashing on hot engine cowlings). Kits of it were one of the more popular plastic kit sales in the days when I was in the model shop. No idea why and I forget which manufacturer it was, probably Airfix or Revell. The best seller was the Wallace and Gromit van. The 'medieval lifeboat' was another good seller though the supplier is unlikely to be popular with anyone in this country these days.

One parcel is due to be collected shortly so I'd better go and stand by.

No doubt a sharp reminder will be delivered this evening.  I was going to say by the domestic authorities, but I am the domestic authority - with no meaningful authority of course. 😆

Could this mean that SWMBO is the HR Director?  Scary.....🤣

Bear here.....

Hall Radiator drained and off the wall rather easily, along with the wall brackets; I left it outside on the front path and about an hour later heard the sound of a distinctive bell - so I shot outside to make sure the Fairies didn't miss it.  Once upon a time they used to give people the opportunity to get stuff out to them - now it seems that if it isn't already outside in plain view it'll get left behind; I can also just about remember when the Fairies used to arrive on a horse n' cart - long gone now though, sadly.

Right, din dins first then ponder the pipework changes required before I can box in the existing pipework; I've currently got some of the new "nasty" paint stripper (similar to the old Nitromors - very fast acting) on small areas of the pipework where I'll need to fit compression joints.

Bear gone.

The reason that modern medications are generally blister packed is to keep the drug stable as many drugs degrade when exposed to moisture (in the air). Drug stability and package are sophisticated disciplines in their own right. And some of the cutting edge technology drugs require very specialised storage and preparation

Things like this are done for a purpose - 'know better' at your peril.

Just over 7 years since we bought the house and we'll have lived here for 5 years in June.  Time flies.

Do they still write to you and email you?  I think we have finally managed to stop them sending stuff trying to get Matthew to pay them some money.

An unexpected  delivery today. Aurellie turned up with a leg of venison.  4 lbs for €20. Very good value.  When Beth enquired how fresh it was the reply was, " It was shot yesterday".  That will be enjoyed in due course. The joys of living in the country.  It's only taken us nearly 5 years to tap into this source of supply.  We are almost becoming locals.

Best way to cook venison is long, low and slow. A pot roast would be ideal.

as I no longer pay them any munny, I don't get to use the letters after my name

Same.

It's been quite a few years since I last paid for the rights to use MRGS, MGS.  Neither ended up doing me much good but for a time I could at least say to my boss that I had more letters after my name, taking the BSc (Hons) into account, than he had in his!
