RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2022 Ey up! Why do some bowlers need to pick the seam of the cricket ball being used? Busy day ahead. I need to finish some administrative bits then attend our regional meeting. The job advert for a new ECB post doesn't mention that whoever does it needs to be able to keep the volunteers involved happy..you just have to have done an"Sports Degree".. Pah! Looks certain that foxy has removed our rat problem. Great! Time to.. drink my mugatea then geronwith Sunday! Stay safe! Baz 20
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2022 Good morning from a a dark and damp Charente. Test Match Special on on the radio. Can England survive. Logs got chopped yesterday and I finished a jigsaw. Then we went out for a meal at a restaurant that we haven't used for at least 3 years. We had heard good reports about it since it reopened after the lockdowns. A new chef has been appointed and it shows. A very nice meal was had. This morning we will be heading for the market as usual for coffee and a chat with friends. Not a lot else in prospect. Regards to all. I had gathered he had been on dialysis earlier in the week It could well be COVID, Simon. Complications include pneumonia, viral sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, kidney failure, cytokine release syndrome, respiratory failure, pulmonary fibrosis, multisystem inflammatory syndrome and chronic COVID syndrome (“Long” COVID). Why people are afraid of the “side effects” (aka Adverse Events or AEs) of the vaccines and not of the above mentioned COVID complications is beyond me (the really serious vaccine AEs - such as blood clots - occur at rate below that seen for the same events in an untreated population). Although the earlier variants of the virus had increased mortality associated with increased age (the Omicron variant still has a lot of unknowns) younger people were also hit (and hard) by COVID complications and, interestingly, early research suggests that this appears to be associated with a defect in one of the very many complicated immune system pathways (as always we are at the mercy of our genes). Bottom line: no matter how young, fit and healthy you may be, if your genome dictates otherwise - without vaccination you are well and truly stuffed! (is that a petite, bijou, medical rant-ette? laurenceb
In the village where I lived at the time three young men (17-19) were killed in road incidents in quick succession two of them brothers, non them their fault. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) Mooring Awl, inner Temple Hare, 3.5 hours plus 3 hours plus one hour plus 1 hours sleep, seems enough but it doesn't feel it. Arms not happy about being laid on. I have no idea of what happened to any school mates or any one else from the schools, because we kept moving, the day after the last day of secondary school I didn't get the train to Kyle of Lochalsh to return home to the Hebrides, but to Edinburgh. Even then, those school accommodation had pupils from all over the Highlands of Scotland so you wouldn't have seen them again. Then the classes at Inverness high school included those from surrounding villages, you'd never have seen them again even if I'd stayed there. It was noticeable during RAF training the idiot who crashed his car the most, was someone the son of something senior in the Glasgow police. I suspect being out from under his dad's eyes had something to do with that. He managed to spin his VW beetle through the goal posts without hitting them having come off the on base roads, official speed limit 10 mph.. we didn't believe him till we saw the tracks on the grass. He later rolled the beetle on a straight bit of the M6, he got away without injury. He other incidents all the time.. Left knee complaining and left elbow has joined in, pink pills will be taken with breakfast as i intend finishing the primer painting of the hull. £85 of more primer and undercoat having arrived Friday. Luckily it being a two part epoxy as long as it's been over the minimum temperature when mixed it will set. Because today's seaweed forecast high is a huge 6C. So preparation of the mix will be done in the workshop with the fan heater on. Time to... think of breakfast, I think it will be a BLT without the bread.. Whenever carrying anything even remotely heavy in the boot of the Bearmobile I always cross the rear seat belts from left to right & vice-versa to stop the seat backs from collapsing due to stuff in the boot not stopping in the event of an accident. Not tested it yet, fortunately. 7 hours ago, Dutch_Master said: Back in the late 80's in my mid-teens (showing my age here ) I went to the equivalent of a high school. One id!ot in particular was an ardent bully, but at the end of that year, I promoted to yr 3 while he was apparently so preoccupied with bullying me he hadn't studied enough and was kept in yr 2. Later that year he jumped on the back of his friends moped (friend driving) and they drove alongside a busy interchange road. As they were crossing the motorway entrance turn-on, a lady in a 2CV hadn't seen them, probably most likely due to speeding of the moped. It comes as no surprise I did not attend the funeral For anyone who's been on the receiving end of such a person I'd conclude that there is some justice in the world. 7 hours ago, Dutch_Master said: The bloke is locked up under "full limitations" measures, meaning he can only communicate with his lawyer and from what I gather he's suspected of sexually abusing the girl. In other news..... Bear's fun yesterday was confined to washing (lots) and changing sheets on the Bear Pit; after that it was very much messing with notalot really, as well as watching films on the square box. Must try harder today.....
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 9, 2022 Good morning all, Frosty start but we have blue sky and sunshine and it should stay that way for a while but will become cloudier later. Phone app says it's 2°C with a real feel of -2°C. Brownie points earned yesterday with a major clean of the washing machine detergent dispenser tray and orifice. It seems "we" haven't done it for a long time. "I" have now rectified this! Found a leaflet in the letterbox this morning from our local chippy which is under new management. Not only have they changed the name but they are now offering "buttered" sausages and Mars bars. I suspect a speelink mistook. Really enjoyable game of rugby watched yesterday with my two favourite teams slugging it out. No 1 side Quins edged it but only just in the last minutes against Exeter who played half the match with 14 men. Another match today to watch when top team Tigers take on Wasps in their nest. Son Steve is popping in for a chat later and also to assist me with a computer problem. (The problem being I haven't a clue what I'm doing! ) A small fry-up is being prepared, just egg, bacon, tomato and toast today so I better "get a move on." Have a good one, Bob. 17

Yes they are outlawed within the Laws of Cricket but umpires don't look for it very often at International level (or nowadays at local and county level). RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2022 Afternoon All First off amazing news - ALL posts read and many rated - and as usual, greetings are offered to all ailing and celebrating - and welcome back to Dutch Master after a long absence. Interesting to see the reactions to my posting the videos of Emily Linge - and some have been doing some googling as well. I was not aware of her age, I just saw her as an amazing musician with an excellent voice but doing what my fellow ERs did I am amazed by her talent and potential when she is a little older. Now then (sorry - rant mode on) Went down to Lidl for 09.40 and was among the first into the store - found the microwaves, there were three on the shelf, and they were marked on the shelf edge as being microwave and grill price £69.99 - got one into my trolley, and as I was picking up the other shopping I was reading the description on the box - no mention of the grill function, so I got my brochure out and compared the model no there with the model no on the box - totally different - I rang 30747 to tell her, and another woman who was also buying must have overheard me. She sought out the assistant manager, and had him open the box to check the user guide - which he did, and concurred that there was no grill function on this model - I put mine back on the shelf, as did the assistant manager, with the open boxed item - and the third had already left the shop. Where this went wrong is that the assistant manager just put them back, did not remove the shelf edge, and also, and more importantly, did not remove the offending items from the shelf pending sorting this out with Head Office. A fairly strongly worded email has gone to Lidl. (rant mode off). Regards to All Stewart 4 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2022 Afternoon awl, Second coat of primer applied and two under the support pad areas done. Weather permitting, I'll do under remaining pads, and use up left over primer by coating vulnerable areas again next week. Boat chair varnished, it looks good wet, but it will need several more coats before it looks that way when dry. Ben taken for his long walk , more sheep herding done. After that we met his girlfriend. On the way back he was noticeably less controllable, he just wanted to catch up with her way in the distance. Dinner shortly. Bye for now... 19
RMweb Gold Popular Post PupCam Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2022 Afternoon! Well after the bikeless biker's breakfast this morning Mrs Puppers and I went for a walk round Shuttleworth's Swiss Garden in Old Warden and very nice it was too. Two points to note; 1) In times gone by we could/would have purchased the bikeless biker's breakfast in the Shuttleworth Cafe. That would have been another £16 in the coffers but now that is not possible so precisely £0 pounds were spent whilst there (the shop is nothing to write home about now and not worth putting a mask on to go and have a look). Still, they've done the CBA ..... 2) I note that the new "Regime" (is that too strong?) absolutely forbids vehicles moving down in front of the hangars now and so the public parking was moved from the large hardstanding in front of the hangars to the grass field at the end up towards the mansion. This was, so I believe, to create a sterile, safe area free from vehicles for the visitors. Despite many protestations from numerous people and supporters there was to be no relaxing or readjustment of the new ruling when it came to pass. I was therefore somewhat bemused to note that there was no parking allowed in the field today (I'm guessing it has turned into a sponge) and all vehicles were parking on the hard standing in front of ....... Actually there were a fair number of cars there today, I'd love to know the ratio of SVAS to paying visitors. Anyway, as far as I know, despite this allegedly highly dangerous situation of human beings walking through the car park no one died there today. That was lucky then. This. by the way, is in no way a rant, it is merely an observation from a member of the SVAS and a once loyal supporter of the Trust who was in 7th Heaven with every visit. It could easily have become my second home. As it's SVAS renewal time perhaps I'll have to do my own CBA exercise. Bathwater and babies spring to mind. Such a shame. This afternoon was spent timing the AJ. Apart from cleaning up the points and re-setting the gap no other ignition adjustments were absolutely necessary this time although next time I'll have to adjust the mag chain tension which no doubt will necessitate a full blown timing adjustment. If it's nice tomorrow I'd better go for a test ride. In a moment I'm going to whip out the old Newton Reflector and I might have a first stab at doing it properly and polar aligning the mount. That will enable me to see how well the equatorial drive works. Looking out the window; are those clouds coming or going I wonder? We shall see. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2022 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I was going to make an omelette for lunch but I dropped the carton of cream getting it out of the fridge so I spent half an hour cleaning the kitchen floor. Luckily the carton was nearly empty and the cling film over the top contained a lot of it and nothing escaped to under the units. Lunch was bread, cheese and pickles. Time to put the kettle on, be back later. 1
