RMweb Premium zarniwhoop Posted December 25, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 25, 2021 <George Dixon Voice> "Evening All" Happy <insert favoured festivity here> I hadn't intended to post, but after watching Spitting Image from earlier (I recorded it) and now having eaten what turned out to be an excellent dish of red cabbage (stewed with red onion, apple, red wine vinegar, red wine, caraway) I'm feeling a lot more cheerful than expected, and just about to start counting: Three is the number, and the number of the counting shall be three. Five is right out. At the moment I'm on one (Staropramen), two will be Erdinger Weißbier, three will be a glass of Lanson rosé. Not sure if there will, or will not, be a four and five. Best wishes to all who are not able to celebrate as they wished, and to everyone else - enjoy it! And if you too saw Spitting Image: "Release the lion!" (to rip apart the three billionaires). Evil ? Moi ? ĸen
Popular Post pH
TV weather forecast is for overnight temperatures for the next few days down to minus 14C - with the wind chill minus 20. It’s due to what are called Arctic outflows, where the dense, cold air in the centre of the continent makes it west over the mountains. 1

I was going to tag that with 'friendly/supportive', but I've no idea what temperatures (or humidity) you usually get ? But since you mentioned it I suppose it is something out of the ordinary so I'll give you that. Stay warm! ĸen 7

Christmas day here has turned out to be perfectly Oz style, 31 degrees with the sounds of BBQ lunches coming from the backyards around me, and the occasional childs scream and splash from those with pools. Even a distant cow is enjoying the chance to cool off. 18 1

Our efforts to do so are a source of schadenfreude and amusement to the inhabitants of the rest of Canada (of the rest of British Columbia as well, to be honest). RMweb Premium Popular Post BR60103 Posted December 25, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2021 Today went of the rails. Yesterday I saw the Dr about my leg--the one that's bigger around than the other one. I was told to get an urgent ultrasound on it. Today I had an appointment just before noon. This took almost to 1:00 -- when the lab was closing for the holidays. After they called my Dr, I was instructed to go to Emergency immediately. SWMBO drove me over but was not allowed in. Long periods waiting in different waiting rooms. Final diagnosis was blood clot or thrombosis. Then there was an hour while they did a blood test to make sure I could take the pills. NursePractitioner called SWMBO to let her know what was happening. Finally out. Went to pharmacy for pills; our usual had shut for the weekend. Time on receipt was 4:41. Home for lunch, then opening presents (not sure why). I had declined to take any outside material into the hospital. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 25, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2021 Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, Just back from the depths of the garden, Ben the very insistent Collie dragged me out and charged down to the far end saying Merry Christmas to the pigeons ( or growling get of my land). It's not deep and crisp and even out there.. There is stiff easterly out there gusting 35mph and it's chilly, which is why I'm wrapped up in an old sleeping bag getting warm on the sofa. 3 hours sleep was had, then down stairs for pink pills , more bits of sleep has been had. But I didn't see Santa... I don't think I'd be doing anything heavy today, even if it wasn't Christmas. I was most disappointed with Saun the Sheep, the farmer was not using his series Landrover.. but some foreign rubbish.... ( The only TV I watched yesterday) Plans for today, not a lot, phone my parents. take Ben for a walk. eat dinner.. open a bottle of.... Glenfiddich, couldn't find any Highland park. time to...do nothing... 21

He was a junior pilot on VC10's and he was stuck in the Seychelles for a week whilst waiting for some spares. My mother couldn't understand why she wasn't getting any sympathy. Good moaning from a dark and quiet Charente. All is still and the stars were bright as we strolled home from a meal with friends last night. Orion was clear along with the milky way. Earlier I had been out trainspotting with my mate and drove hime watching a beautiful sunset whilst listening to Carols from Kings on a somewhat crackly Radio 4 long wave. I seemed to have something in my eye as those soaring descants came across the ether. May I wish you all greetings for a happy and joyful day, whatever your situation. Hopefully the magic of video calls will allow us to share greetings with all the kids and especially young Emily. A duck is waiting patiently to be roasted at a friends house this evening where we are headed. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted December 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2021 Good morning all, Merry Christmas and I hope everybody has a great day. It's just getting light here and from what I can see it's very overcast. Chance of some rain later. Mince pies were made yesterday and after testing I have passed them fit for human consumption. Steve arrived as scheduled and Abbie turned up as well (in her lunch hour) and added even more presents to the huge pile that is already here.. She stayed for a quick lunch but then had to nip back home as she was WFH until 6.00pm. Scrooge was watched and enjoyed as usual then TV was turned off and various beverages - beer, wines and spirits - were tested and we had a nice light evening meal before testing some more wine and spirits. Went to bed at 11.30 and slept fairly well until 6.30. Breakfast will be served shortly and then we will await the arrival of the rest of our guests. Have a good one, Bob. 23

We're in for something similar - though slightly less cold (-9°C) on Tuesday. Highs for the weekdays are forecast to be right around freezing. TV meteorologists are breathlessly talking about the possibility of snow - most likely on Sunday and perhaps around 3" on the valley floor. Weather is supposed to turn colder and dryer by the end of Monday. Sunday's NFL game in Seattle might be snowy. That will be a change. There is a family obligation for Tuesday that involves crossing the coast range. We may have to call it off - depending on road conditions. 8
Popular Post Ozexpatriate
Christmas Eve (dinner with family here) is done. Dinner was planned to be at six in the evening. Eldest son said he (et famille) would be "early", but did not specify how early. He arrived at 1:00pm, while I was still at the supermarket picking up provisions that needed to be fresh. A blessing in a way, since it avoided me panicking around the house trying to make it presentable all afternoon - instead it was 'come as you are' / 'it is as you find it', which frankly was less stressful. A nice evening with family and we watched (via streaming) "Christmas Vacation". So for me it's "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!" 16 2

Covid. Still could be a lot worse, as many are finding. To each and every one of you, may I wish you and yours, a happy, peaceful but most of all, a healthy Christmas and my very best wishes for 2022. Now back to unsplendid isolation in the spare room.
