:mosking: I realised many-years ago; dogs are 'honest and true', less work and more fun! :friends:

Debs some dogs do hold true to one master but others can be seduced by anyone holding a treat.

German Shepherds are said make the best guide dogs - but only about 11% of guide dogs are German Shepherds - because they're so loyal to their trainers they don't easily transfer affection. Labradors, on the other hand, go to whoever has the food. (Information supplied by our University's Rehab diploma programme)

Well I won't be going to George Bush International this evening. Matthew's flight to Chicago from Calgary has been cancelled. Good news is that UA have rebooked him onto a direct flight tomorrow morning and he is on a bus to an airport hotel now.

So I think I may treat myself to a steak and beer tonight as I won't be driving.

I tried a local beer last night Saint Arnold Amber. Went OK with last night's steak!

I went to the Train Show. Very different to a UK exhibition but everyone was very pleasant. The young ladies from the school choir who were selling refreshments to raise funds  "just loved" my accent. Their teacher seemed quite interested in why someone from England had ended up at a Texan train show.

I won't tell anyone that you're the advance scout for the imminent British re-taking of the long-lost colonies in the New World! :triniti:

Tony, did you remember your camera?

Why was the flight cancelled btw?

Enjoy your steak but watch your cholesterol.......

Best, Pete.

Yes. I took some photos of some nice S scale models and some general shots of the hall so people can see how it isn't like a UK exhibition. I think the number of layouts was much lower but attendees were able to visit home layouts at various open house events this afternoon and evening. I didn't  as I thought I would be collecting Matthew.

Matthew's flight arrived at Calgary and was delayed by "servicing/technical" reasons and then cancelled. He is in a hotel and will return to the airport at 4am Calgary time (I think that is an hour behind Houston). Anyway all being well I'll be collecting him at lunchtime tomorrow. He will notice the temperature difference. T-shirt weather for much of the day here.

My cholesterol is OK , but now of course doctors / nurses add "for a man of your age" to most test results.

Up bright and early, ready for an early breakfast and Mass..

Was visited by lass yesterday evening for a drink. She complained that although I had escorted her to supper I had not waited for her after supper as a result she had got lost on the way back. It's a square building with a single passage all round!   I shall ignore.

Luckily her son and daughter-in-law came to visited so relieved me.

It turns out their son (her grand son) was in my Scout Troop just before I retired. I don't remember him but pretended I did

Hell, over 250 Scouts passed through the Troop in my time.

It's going to be hot 33C! Clear sky at the moment.

Morning all...

Slept till just shy of 8 am and will be taking things slow today. Though some tidying up will be done in between, as usual. Weather's looking dull, too, so no particular reason for being outside.

Cheers!

Good morning!

Not a great one as one grandchild was ill last night entailing midnight bed linen change then O/H snored and spread over my half of the bed. Nowhere else to sleep with house full!

On the plus side we enjoyed long walks around the prom and harbour at Torquay yesterday and a visit to Cockington. And we won the quiz at a church social.

Hope a few more *TIK's will restore my equilibrium. At least the sun is shining!

Have fun!

*= tea in kitchen!

Ah! I've just had a lightbulb moment!

Neil - it was your third leg.

As there was no Rugby yesterday, I watch the some of the 'British Grand Prix (Athletics).

I expect it's just me but I don't get the same satisfaction watching Indoor as opposed to Outdoor Athletics.

Don: Tell her to follow the tape on the floor to your room.

Don't put any tape down.

Morning all,

Had a W-T-F moment last night....sat quietly writting an email when there's sound of an explosion from the kitchen......the cabinet above the work surface (where all the non-perishable  food, glasses etc are stored) decided that it was play time! Lept off the wall, turned turtle and crashed to the floor. Of course almost every thing in  glass broke, (Soy sauce, brown sauce, vinegar.......) So todays task will be major clean up......However there is a very agreeable smell coming from the kitchen...

Wish me luck.!  Back later?

Sorry to hear of your sleepless night, Ashers.

Hope all is now well with patient.

Second that!

Edited to say that I don't envy you for cleaning up that mess, Trev. Just what you didn't need, especially not on a Sunday, no?

Morning all

lovely sunny morning.

Comiserations Ash. Two nights ago I was up in the middle of the night cleaning up after Monty (the larger dog) vomited over the carpet. Dealing with these things is not pleasant when you are half asleep.

Trev, I really shudder when I think of the mess. Good luck with the clean-up. Can you not employ a minion?

You will also need to restock on condiments and basic supplies, and you had a work related schedule planned.

Open tins for lunch?

Maybe it's your turn then Ashers as for the first time in months I managed to get through the night without getting up two or three times.  I'm now convinced that it's all in the head... :senile:

I'm certainly feeling more positive towards modelling and that's something that's passed me by since November.

Looks like a day on my own today as Mrs S is wandering off to West Wittering with her friend who's staying for a week.  She's back down from Scotland for a few days.  Listening to life in a small Scottish town seems so much more relaxing and away from the hustle and bustle of the south.  One of the questions I overheard last night was about the population of Scotland.  Just 5m in such a large space.  No wonder it's peaceful..

So Spring is on its way.  The birds are more active than for weeks and with any luck the sun may break through once the mist has lifted...

A fantastic sunny, blue-skies good morning to you all.

Back soon
