RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2012 Dom, Charlie looks like a very nice beagle. Has he started sounding like one yet? They have such interesting "voices".

I never heard any other beagles aside from Charlie, but his voice does sound interesting to my ears!
trisonic
I must say I enjoyed a very comfortable and interesting ride from Koln to Hannover back in, about 1985. Views were more interesting than I expected. I don't know why but earlier than that (since 1961) I've always seemed to have traversed Germany by night - that last time was a 8:00am start. Best, Pete. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2012 Aternoon all, somewhat late on parade as I've been on a delightful day out to Camrail and have not long returned to the keyboard. Mrs Stationmaster accompanied me for the trip as Bradford-On-Avon is a lovely spot and was I thought a safe place to leave her on her own - I was wrong, she found a shoe shop (normally she is not at all a 'shopping type' person so it must have been due to the sudden emergence of the sun that she went and bought two pairs of leather sandals ). Anyway a pleasant time was had at Camrail nattering to the head sarnie maker - one Cap'n Kernow - and having a natter with Chris Nevard (who decided as he was leaving home to bring Polbrock with him, and very nice it is too) plus Jerry (Bath Queens Square etc who was with John on Wenfordbridge). Pics will appear in the Camrail thread once I've had time to suitably shrink them etc. Smashing little exhibition - and good sarnies. And I'd better start a thread about the Voldemort Games - the games that dare not speak their name on any railway posters. It seems the railway industry is frightened to even mention the word 'olympics' - might be good idea in view of reecent news headlines but it does seem daft.
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Afternoon All Late on parade, as took Lily out this morning for her Saturday socialisation, and decided when we got back that as the weather was good for the first time in who knows how long, that a large budlea (?) bush in the garden needed to be reduced to a stump, as it immediately became a doggy hidey-hole.and we can't wait for our tree person to come and fell it, so it's down as far as I could manage using a 24" bow saw and a pair of loppers. While this operation was taking place, 30747 decided to sit down for a cup of tea, and this was the result:- LOL Edited July 21, 2012 by 45156
trisonic
30747 looks like my SiL (wife of my late brother) her name is not Janet is it? Best, Pete
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 21, 2012 No - I gave her the number 30747 from the King Arthur loco that bears her first name - built at Eastleigh in 1922, scrapped 1956 - my 30747 wasn't even born when her loco counterpart was scrapped, but I couldn't in all fairness give her the webname 73119 which took over the name in 1959. trisonic
Oh, her name is Arthur? Unusual... Best, Pete.
DDolfelin
The butterflies will miss out on the blooms in the 45156 garden. Just back from Barmouth, Fairbourne and Talyllyn. Beautiful day for a change. Thought a light aircraft had come down in a field on the way but couldn't see anything on the way back. About one in fifty motorcyclists had any idea of control or road sense. If they insist on putting their head on my side of the road on bends at silly mph, one day I shall yield to temptation instead of sharply avoiding them. However, saw a very nice Harley - pic tomorrow.
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Evening all, just showered (using shower gel, do people still really use soap in the shower?) fed (pizza) and watered (Peroni) after a lovely day on the U at the Mid Hants. Cracking day, engine went well, crew did well, started the fireman on a bit of driving today. I think he discovered that there is slightly more to it than just sitting in the corner twiddling a few levers... have a good one Edited July 21, 2012 by PhilH
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Stewart's buddleia will be extra nice next year for the pruning though. Just back from Barmouth, Fairbourne and Talyllyn. I saw the Talyllyn film recently posted on RMweb. I used to have quite a nice layout that was Talyllyn inspired and had the LTC Rolt Railway Adventure out on loan from the library for a very long time. The book wasn't available otherwise but I looked on Amazon and there it was so I now have a copy! Edited July 21, 2012 by Tony_S

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2012 Not exactly getting the early night before collecting assorted family members to go to see the new baby tomorrow, Matthew went to a barbecue and seemed to have a touch of food poisoning. Amazingly they don't seem to have served carrots. I'm sure he'll be OK in the morning. Aditi was on the phone a lot to her mother who seemed to be having some difficulty with the arrangements for the visit tomorrow, (or today as it is past midnight!) DDolfelin
Harley as promised. If it was mine (unlikely), I don't think I'd leave it in the sand.
RMweb Premium NGT6 1315 Posted July 22, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 22, 2012 Morning all... Quiet outside and looking sunny right now, so we'll most likely be out for a trip some time this afternoon. Oh, did I mention summer has been forecast to return over the next few days? Intriguing. Anyway - have a good one, everyone!
DDolfelin
Some snaps from yesterday - some useful for reference (including a transverser). RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 22, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2012 Mother and baby may be going home today. We are more than happy to do what we are told by the new parents but MiL seems to want a detailed itinerary. There were some difficulties during the birth and with both the new parents being doctors they were all too aware of what these problems meant, Fortunately baby Maya is OK but her Mum is exhausted. She doesn't need her MiL telling her "in my day..." type tales. I'm driving, and Aditi is "managing" her Mum! Tony
