But all this living upside down in Oz must've made the blood pool in your head Chimpey, cos the joke's on you: that was a kiddies' menu - designed to appeal to immature palates with no sophistication - like children and many ER posters. Anyway, I am surprised to learn that Australians actually have a cuisine, even if it is only chips and hamburger - I thought Australian cooking was basically charcoaling bits of animal, fowl, fish and crustacean on the Barbie 🤣 1

RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted Thursday at 11:51 RMweb Premium Share Posted Thursday at 11:51 People in East Asia are, alas, rapidly catching up with the western world when it comes to obesity. When I first visited Japan, China and Korea I looked twice if I saw an overweight person as they were so unusual and stood out. Now it's normal. Things were different in Malaysia and Indonesia where obesity has long been an issue for men, though much less so for women. As well as dietary changes Asia has also seen the same shift to a much more sedentary lifestyle as people work in offices, industries increasingly rely on mechanised processes etc. 9

Sunny here too. No squelchiness yet detected. I haven’t ventured as far as the lawn so that may change when His Furship takes his constitutional in a while. Light cleaning is under way - the first time I have felt able to manage anything of the sort for almost three weeks - in order to welcome Dr SWMBO home later. She starts two weeks of leave when she departs Kew any time now though I have no doubt she will work on the train as she always does. I bumped into the chap we bought the cottage from yesterday on my way to the Co-op. In a small town we would normally see each other every few days at least. It is his father-in-law who lives next door. It seems most of the town knows why I had ambulances, a police car and an emergency motorcycle outside over a 36-hour period. That’s small town life for you. At least we know there are a goodly number of people we could call on if needed.
RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted Thursday at 11:54 RMweb Premium Share Posted Thursday at 11:54 On hamburgers, hamburg steak has a long heritage in Japan which predates US fast food by decades. Though the Japanese style was to treat it as a steak rather than as a bun filler. Hamburg steak with Japanese curry and rice is delightful. They have the British to thank for curry, British naval officers with Indian cooks attached to the Imperial navy to modernise it popularised curry. 12

The whole café is for kids (Out of shot: two toddlers) They also have two other cafés which cater to adults and families serving traditional Japanese family favourites (like katsudon and rice). 14 1

Sorry for mistaking what it said on the museum website which said it is a place for parents to relax while their children are in the play areas. At least you found the burger area. After two weeks on Queen Anne we never found the dedicated burger and fries cafe! We did on Queen Mary but it was only open in clement weather and it was often a bit stormy in the North Atlantic. Not sure I would have eaten there though, usually full from the conventional restaurant meals.

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted Thursday at 13:18 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted Thursday at 13:18 Afternoon Awl, Venture to the bridges was made, in Awl I walked a whole mile, the most I've walked since we lost Ben, i really need to get out more.... Did get a Border Collie cuddle though, one of the yards I was taking pictures of had two Borders wandering around. The older female came for a cuddle, the younger male put a ball in front of me then when I tried to get it , picked up it up and moved back.. Ben would do that some times. Many photos taken, good job I did, I ended up speaking to a boat yard worker, one of the buildings I was interested in, is being replaced next year... Only just made it back in time to visit a small room, the trial pills are having a bad day today. By chance we left and returned while the artic lorries were away... Which made the journey easier. The latest navigator was a disaster, it's update rate is just too slow, probably because it's packed with too much information. It even said " Potter Heigham Bridge Halt Railway Station" and gave a wiki link.. I was to stand on that very spot to take piccies, though now on that spot you have to dodge beet lorries on the A149, not 4MTs or J17s on the former M&GN. We were at the destination before it updated our position by about 3 miles.. Now going back to NavMii, though while doing that it's suggested doing some android updates, I'll check that out when the map is done. Got home to find the final pension paperwork waiting for me, more than I thought, I'll fill it in Saturday, when I've had a full perusal of the options and documents. 18

I got bored after a few minutes. 🤪 I had something like that 3 or 4 weeks ago on my mobile. I had a gentleman named "Michael" phone my up rambling on about how my sim card on the xxxxxxx network was about to explode ( OK, maybe he wasn't quite that dramatic). I suggested to him that it wasn't and indicated I was rather busy and to please push off. Anyway he rang back a few days later to say "Hi, it's Michael remember me? Anyway, as I explained your sim card is about to explode". Again I indicated that it wasn't and he really should push off. Guess what? A few days later Michael phoned to see if I remembered him and the terrible thing that was going to happen to my sim if I didn't do as he said. We then had a bit of discussion on my suggestion that he was a dirty rotten scammer and eventually I had the chance to get to speak to Michael's supervisor. I didn't catch the name. oh dear what a pity how sad. He wanted to know why I thought they were scammers but I thought why am I wasting my time, he can go and annoy somebody else now - hopefully not Mr or Mrs Gullible 🤞 He may try to ring again but he won't be successful of course, not on that number. ION I went for a mini thrash and then lunch with the local VMCC boys this morning. It was very pleasant. Herpes finally managed to deliver my parcel this morning. The K Mount ring has already been removed (6 x M2 screws) now I've just got find a suitable bit of ali bar or tube🤞 to which I can screw it and then machine up astrocamera adapter Mk 2. It's a lovely day although there's quite a lot of cloud about. I hope it pushes off before sunset because I'd like to go comet spotting this evening and later on I might even do some astronomy just so long as the clouds play ball and B off. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted Thursday at 16:08 RMweb Gold Share Posted Thursday at 16:08 (edited) I had an enjoyable walk along the Links today instead of the promenade. The plants are looking very autumnal, the burnet roses in particular have died back a lot as a result of the northerly salt laden winds, as have some other plants. Doubtless they will all sprout from lower stems next Spring. I notice that some dogs no longer bring the balls back when the owner throws them, they just guard them until the owner walks up and throws it again. It must save the dogs a lot of energy not having to walk back to their owner each time. I've spent some time tidying files on my PC and hard drives, some stuff has been deleted and my desktop is less cluttered. I've sorted out how to tackle the rest of the garage sorting and have measured up to make sure things will fit. I've had several calls which appear to be spam/nuisance on my mobile in the last couple of days. Fortunately mine now warns me when a call is likely to be spam so I when I get the red screen with the warning I just ignore the call or end it without answering. I just went to Settings, then set Caller ID and Spam protection to "On". Edited Thursday at 16:08 by DaveF
