Popular Post Coombe Barton
... RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted July 16 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I've just checked my bank balance, and it's more than I thought. Question was where did all that extra cash come from? Then I realised that I've attended far fewer exhibitions and toy fairs this year than I did last year and I no longer travel any great distance from home. I've been looking at items that run on parallel strips of metal now.

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted July 16 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 16 Good evening everyone This evening we met up with our friends from Leicester, they've come up for tomorrow’s flower show. They’re stopping at a pub/hotel in Mobberley tonight, as it means they don’t have to get up with the sparrows tomorrow, to get to the show on time. So, as they’re close by, we went for a meal with them, so we could catch up with what’s been happening etc. a great night, with some good food. However, I’ve probably eaten too much, as usual! It’s really put us in the mood for tomorrow. 15

RMweb Premium polybear Posted July 16 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 16 Bear here..... A Warehouse day today 😃 - I've REALLY missed being there..... A free Donut was sampled as well - which always makes A Good Day an Even Better Day. Big Tick awarded. On the subject of what some people donate - here's a sample: Now what do you think the chances are of finding a buyer for that?? If only such occurrences were one-offs; sadly we get plenty every day - which is one reason the waste disposal bill is something like £90K/year now.... (The above example went in the metal recycling bin - which has zero disposal cost, fortunately.) Nottalott of any significance to report during today's proceedings, just a good day with really nice people - which is pretty good in This Bear's Book. ION..... An Ebay purchase arrived today (a new quartz movement for the Kitchen KittyKatKlock) - sent via RM Tracked Delivery. Now as Bear knew I wouldn't be in today I arranged for it to be delivered to buddy over the road - they confirmed they delivered it to a "Safe Porch", which is what Buddy has. So when I get home what do I find? They'd dumped it in the plastics recycling box (which has a net lid) - and it'd been peein' with rain..... F'wits. So it seems that Amazonitis is now spreading to RM as well. Yes, that's a rant. Bear gone....

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted July 16 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16 Evening Awl, Quarterly meeting of the MRC, held in the nearby pub, it went well and didn't over run... Managed an hours muddling at the MRC before hand, that went well too. I have an eye test tomorrow, guess what, it's going to be sunny, sun glasses are already in the landrover. Now where to store your R.U.B.s? buy a big R.U.B. to put them in. Muggachoccy gone, goodnight Awl. 17

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted July 16 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16 No fancy cakes, bikes nor anything much else tonight. Ah well - if you insist - a rather fancy camera lens put through some of its paces. I arrived at the watch to find no fewer than five kestrels soaring overhead. They are nesting nearby; I know where and will not divulge the exact spot to anyone without very good cause. One and sometimes two have been seen since early Spring. Five together is something special. Not being able to capture them all in the same airspace I settled for what I could get. Some shots were washed out by the light; some failed as the camera could not lock focus on a small distant object which wasn't entirely stationary. Some turned out OK. Including a lucky "Who are you looking at?" snap. For the technically-minded these are captured on a Canon Mk1 EOS7D through a Canon 100-400mm lens using aperture priority at 1/3000 and f5.6 with ISO at 400 13 7

Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, ***** @polybear LOOK AWAY ! Just got back from MRC and felt a spider’s web as I passed through the door. A couple of seconds later I felt something on my head so shuck it and this Bonza (as @monkeysarefun may say) fell on the floor. I caught it in a glass and escorted him out of the house. Ozexpatriate
37°C was the forecast today - official high was 36°C. 28°C is "normal" for mid-July. We're in the dry summer pattern (which is normal). We haven't seen rain in at least two weeks. Air quality today is good - but with southerly winds, wildfire smoke and moderate air quality are forecast tomorrow. The "smoke" forecast is back in the nightly weather report. There are now multiple wildfires burning all over the state - including four large fires - aggregating 270,000 acres - around 425 square miles. Greater London is 606 square miles. Slightly less hot tomorrow - 33°C. 1
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted July 17 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17 This morning we had thunderstorm with heavy rain. Not sure, but may have been 40mm. Lasted all morning. Then moved east to Toronto. They may have had 100mm. (tv news doesn't say it slowly and clearly) Toronto has a river valley with an expressway and an arterial road down it. There were pictures where you could only tell where the road was by the cars showing above the water. One reporter said that it was going down a bit as they could see the door handles appearing. Also reports of flooding in subway stations and in the lower level of Union Station. Train service completely disorganized. Also one line goes up that river valley. Further reports of problems where highways go under other highways.

RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted July 17 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17 I find it bonkers the head of the US secret service is refusing to reign and hasn't been fired. This wasn't the sort of very cleverly planned attack by professionals with the expertise to defeat professional protection, it was a kid who almost killed a former President and Presidential candidate because his protection failed utterly. The more I look at it the worse it seems to get, incompetence doesn't begin to do the failings justice. Regardless of what people think of the target that could have been anyone under secret service protection. Personally I think the President should have called her to say you've got until the morning to do the honorable thing before I make the decision for you and have you escorted out of the building. 3 7
