RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted June 24 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 24 Good morning everyone It’s slightly overcast at the moment, but we are due a lot of sunshine later on. The plans for today are a walk, either at Dunham Massey or RHS Bridgewater, management hasn’t made up their mind yet! Then I'll be completing the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix later this afternoon. There is nothing planned for the evening, so a bit of catching up on recorded stuff from the TV might be the order of the day (evening). Back later. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 24 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 24 Morning all from Estuary-Land. It was so hot and sticky last night I didn't get off to sleep until after two this morning. RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted June 24 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 24 Another bright morning, I am in the green area for heat so it won't get very warm. There is a lot of pollen about as my eyes itch despite antihistamines so I probably won't go far, anyway my cleaner will be here quite soon. As usual my share of the housework is done. I've also washed the outside uPVC on the ground floor so the house looks a lot bettter. After I'd done that I polished most of the wooden furniture, it was long overdue as I have only recently been able to move easily enough to do it without discomfort. It too looks much better. I think some of it could probably be classed as antique, it has certainly been around as far back as I can remember and some of it is in older photos. I do use wax polish, not the silicone spray stuff. It usually needs doing about every four months. I may do some model things later, once the polish has worn off my hands, I wouldn't like to touch anything I was going to paint at the moment! Until then I will probably do not much, I do have yet more old paperwork to sort out. David

Another book/series where it's best not spell the AB's name, it's probably one the filter would object to and it's too early on Monday morning to go on the naughty step. 12 1

It’s not that bad here but still pretty warm. I have just tried casting some rock faces and the casting plaster was setting before I could pour it. I’ll put that task aside for now. We’ve just suffered six months of rain with one of the coolest and wettest springs on record, everyone moaning like mad, then we get three warm, sunny days and people are happy as the proverbial pig and all is right with the world. Me, I’m looking forward to the good thunderstorm that marks the end of summer. Probably later this week or early next. RMweb Gold Hroth Posted June 24 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 24 (edited) I just noticed a configuration error with the bird feeding station I put up the other day. The accessories included rings for an open seed tray and for a mini water bath. I mounted one of the rings as I thought it would be a useful perch for the little birds waiting their turn at the feeders. I realised my mistake when I looked out yesterday evening to see a fat bluddy pigeon sitting on the ring, plundering a feeder that was handily within reach. Anyhow, this morning I repositioned the ring so the sods couldn't reach the feeder. Hah! Foiled you! As I did the repositioning, I found myself humming... 🎶🎶 Edited June 24 by Hroth spelin, beleeve it or knot... 11

All were always informed to tread carefully but with a distraction ... you can guess, the one complete with bass slipped right along to the stairs. Noticed someone had left their debit card in the slot. Got my fuel and paid OK. Should I leave the debit card on top of the pump - hoping the person realised they'd left it there - or take it with me and ring the number on the card? Decided to do the latter. Chap was very helpful on the phone. He said I'd done the right thing, rather that just leave it. 7 5 1
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted June 24 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 24 A'noon. Still sunny and warm here but no movement on parcels, delivery or collection. Whilst sitting around I've been trying to find and delete duplicate photos on my laptop as things seem to have got in "a bit of a mess " and that's putting it mildly. Just wondered if anyone can recommend any free duplicate photo finder software for Windows 11? 12 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted June 24 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 24 To the boat went I, twas hot and steamy.. Rowed across towing BM, and moored her up as normal. Work done, starboard aft bollard refixed with locking nuts and sealant . Old bunk boards starboard aft removed and replaced with IKEA bed slats after being trimmed to length. Cockpit cover washed, dyed, rewaterproofed. Half the carpet removed from the outside of the toilet wall. Some door hinges started to be replaced, then I'd just had enough of the heat... Studied the windows that need replacing, still need to make final decisions.. 20 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted June 24 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 24 Well the delivery eventually occurred shortly after my previous post and the 4 wheeled thingy is very nice and undamaged. The collection has just been made, only about an hour and forty minutes late so I suppose I should be thankful. Muggatea now with a couple of chocolate digestives to accompany it and then I might amble down to the end of the garden. 20
Popular Post Ian Abel
Mornin' Weekend was enjoyable with no special activities. Friday: Jemma showed up in her shiny new X3 and we went off for a ride/drive. She knows enough to allow 'dad' to get behind the wheel and evaluate the equipment. Very nice piece of kit with plenty of "unnecessary" clever bits, including a HUD (heads-up-display). I did ask why it didn't show altitude, pitch/bank and rate-of climb but was quickly admonished 🤣🤣 She has dinner with us and left Whitney. Saturday: AM text, Jemma had sinus issues and called in sick for work. Disappointed since it was her first schedule to Milan. She came over midday and went for a walk with the Mrs and Whitney then hung out a while with us. Evening and overnight a hissed it down, 2.5 inches of rain AGAIN. Lots of flooding in various parts of Minnesota, with rivers near/above flood stage. Sunday: Pleasant weather, quiet day with some limited tree trimming of the front trees, a few branches hanging too low over the front path. Today - work, of course, nothing else on the schedule. 18c and partly cloudy first thing, headed for 30c but a strong chance of heavy thunderstorms evening and into the night. Carry on. 15
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted June 24 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 24 (edited) The cleaner came and cleaned and did a couple of other small jobs as she works very quickly. Meanwhile I sorted out photos to put on here and flickr in due course. I also got all the washing done and dried, then went through my shirts and decided that the time has come to part with some of them. They are no longer suitable for a charity shop so they have gone in the bin along with the very old kitchen curtains. After lunch I decided to go to the beach, both the big and little car parks were full but there was a space by the harbour road so I went there. I made my way over the large stones at the top of the beach down onto the sand and had a very pleasant walk. There wree no interesting shells to pick up today, just some bits of seaweed which I left alone. It's the first time I've walked on the sand as opposed to the promenade and links since before my surgery - I hadn't realised it was that long. On the way back home I stopped at a cash machine and the little Tesco to get something for tea. Since then I have worked on more photos, ironed some shirts which I am keeping and put up sticky yellow insect traps up the in the greenhouse as I found some whitefly on a plant yesterday. The plant is now outside. The next job is to clean the birdbath and then get tea. It is pleasantly warm outside but almost hot inside. RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted June 24 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 24 Question of the day. Quite unrelated to the effects of the saddle upon the anatomy 😇🤣 And - lest anyone should suspect deliberate use of the double-entendre - the term refers to that most debilitating condition experienced by many of just running out of steam. Marathon runners hit the wall. Hikers and cyclists bonk. It’s the same phenomenon. And one I too suffered from as a touring cyclist back in the Jurassic Era. Bread pudding worked wonders. I learned never to set off for the day without some. 6

Getting spares for such things tends to be (a) bluddy expensive, or (b) nigh on impossible due to obsolescence in the leccy components industry. 10

I was sitting on a bench outside a shop in a “country market” - lots of craft shops, cafes etc. and very busy. As I got up to leave, I saw a cellphone lying on the bench a few feet away, with nobody near it. So I took it into the shop, told them where I’d found it and left it with them. I think it would be a pretty forlorn hope that the owner would remember everywhere (s)he been in the market, though. Probably the best thing would be that they would phone their own number, hoping someone answers.
