RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted June 14 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 14 I had to make a complaint to the manager of our local pharmacy today. I was waiting for the balance of a prescription so went into the pharmacy on Wednesday to advise him that I'd be out yesterday so please don't deliver as their driver has a habit of leaving stuff on the doorstep and heading straight back to his van. When I'm there I obviously retrieve it straight away and I think the the driver usually sees me but I have mentioned to the manager previously that on occasions he might not and I didn't think it was good practice (or even permissible) to leave medication of any kind on the step. While we were out I happened to look on my phone app at our security camera and sure enough matey rang the bell, put the package on the step and b#ggered off. It was sitting there for nearly 3 hours before I saw this so I phoned our next door neighbour's daughter who was in at the time and who kindly retrieved it for me. It's a good job that she was as we didn't get home until about 21.00 and there were a couple of heavy rain showers so the stuff would've got saturated. Complaint noted, profuse apology received and the driver will be given "some words of advice." 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted June 14 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 14 (edited) Pah! Car Sat Nav needs an update so waiting 15-20 minutes for it to download at the moment. I will then have to sit in the car for about half an hour with the engine running whilst it uploads. Have to have the engine running 'cos if I don't after a few minutes the car automatically goes into eco mode* and the ignition switches off. The only good thing is that this will pass a bit of time while waiting for my afternoon muggatea and wedge of walnut sponge cake with buttercream. Stealth mode will be activated so that Bears and Hippos don't get a whiff. * Eco mode! Save some battery power and use up petrol and chuck out exhaust emissions. Am I missing something? P.S. Note to Bear: Comments about saving £40 on cab fares to put towards purchasing toys are not very helpful. I'm trying hard not to buy more stuff and you, Neil and also DaveF are not doing any good. Popular Post Ian Abel
Nice to see @Debs. and @Oldddudders appear, even if briefly, hope all is well with you both/three (Sherry also) POETS, probably taking a shot at it. Latest "attempts" to change/update/re-arrange a couple of the new reports I've been working on are stalled following the senior management unable to decide the latest shuffle of data. They've been at it for nearly two days now and can't make up their minds. Using a dart board would be more productive I think!! Nothing else yesterday, save the Mrs had an enjoyable lunch with her sister. Weekend is expected to be mostly harmless, though we are going to the baseball game Sunday, a treat for Fathers' Day. Somehow ALL FOUR, Jemma, Brendan, Trevor and Meagan, managed to be available on the same day - wonders will never cease it seems 😀 Today, lovely sunny and pleasant at 15c first thing, reaching 25c later. Weekend supposed to be nice except for rain early Sunday, we'll see how that shapes up for the baseball. Carry on. 16

RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted June 14 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 14 (edited) Bear here..... Sealed Lead-Acid Battery unpacked and all is ok; the ty-wraps in the two packs of, er, ty-wraps were a little smaller than hoped - but as they were significantly discounted (60p/pack) I can't complain; one pack for Bear, the other for the Warehouse Toolbox. Oh yes, the seller bunged in a freebie gift as well - namely a pack of "Haribo Starmix Sweeties". Big Tick..... Then it was time for all the joys of filling out an on-line accident report with Hastings Direct (though I believe you can do it by phone as well); the website decided to flip out a couple of times but luckily I managed to recover the situation (though I did do a quick copy n' paste of the Incident Report Description in case it all got lost and I had to start it again). Ball is in their court now; based on the info submitted they agree it's down to the other driver - I wish I could see his moosh when he gets a letter from his insurers - and hopefully a "Failure to Stop" Summons from the Plod as well....... ION..... Bear's Airspeed is now down to 67.5Kg as of this morning - all stores jettisoned, tanks dry. Another 2.5Kg and the Drogue Chute goes out...... I'm currently running on about 1500 cals at present - though the presence of cake on some warehouse days may make that calculation kinda wobbly. The everyday kickin' around-in jeans are more than a bit slack....and some....they'll have to be pensioned off soon. IOON..... Just heard from Enterprise, who are apparently managing the repairs to Mickey; they confirmed from the Van Reg. that the 'sterd is insured, which is a Tick. They'll be contacting his insurers......who will no doubt contact him (or her)..... BG Edited June 14 by polybear 15 1 7
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted June 14 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 14 (edited) I had a quick walk round part of the park today, using different paths just for a change. The laburnums were out but I am not a fan of the uncut grass areas, I know what will end up happening... Then I remebered I needed to buy something for lunch so went to Morrisons, the nearest supermarket. Parking as always was easy, I had a good walk round. I think they have more products online than in the shop which shouldn't be possible as the stuff I get them is all picked from the shop. Very odd. I was going ro use a self service checkout but there was no queue at the staffed ones, a big plus. It took me a short while to work out why the staff were all laughing then I realised. There had just been a message over the Tannoy asking the owner of a BMW Reg No. NE14... to move their car (think about it). I've not put the last letters in but they spelt out a name. Back home for coffee, did some tidying in the garden, chatted to a neighbour who was also gardening and eventually got a late lunch. This afternoon I've read a bit, put the living room rug to go to the tip - it is wearing and no longer looks good and did some things in the greenhouse. Next wil be tea then more reading and possibly TV somewhat later on. 2 park photos: Laburnum in the Park Old bowling green David Edited June 14 by DaveF
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted June 14 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 14 (edited) Sat Nav update download total failure after 4 attempts. I don't think it's my fault but you never know. I'm trying to keep very calm and not hit something. I think I'll give it a rest and try again tomorrow...or leave it until Steve gets back home. Oh and the Walnut cake is very ordinary and nothing special. I might have a go at making one myself next week.
