I shall try and venture out with a mugadecaf, later. Yesterday, I ventured no further than the front door and came straight back in again! Brrrr!

 

Still feeling tired and drained. It seems I may have gone down with one of the lurgys going around. On top of that, earlier in the week I succumbed to back ache. <<Must've done something silly!>> Thankfully, easing off now.

 

I have managed to keep up a bit of TOTF🎶 even though it has been tough going, and have avoided sitting on the floor, for now. Fortunately, a few days ago, I found a word missing from my mental glossary of things that govern how I play (such as: consistency, continuity, control, fluency, sound, tone, etc, etc.). I discovered it quite by accident when playing the basic up and down scale: Precision! Everything needs to be aligned - body, arm, hand, fingers, lips, etc - in the right position to produce a decent note. The trouble is, what I found acceptable at the beginning I often find wanting now. It is this that is making me realise how much I need to work on the action, the craft that produces the art. Just like honing the modelling skills to produce a better model. <<I knew my other venture would come in useful somehow!>>

 

Time to get on.

I'm assuming they'll send the polyps they removed to the path lab to ensure that nothing is amiss - better safe than sorry.

 

As polyp removal requires a colonoscopy - you do get some "serious" meds during the procedure (at least I did - I got propofol - seriously tasty 😁) so not unpleasant. The worst part is the pre-op prep work.

 

Overclocked peristalsis is NOT fun!

Polyps are in my stomach, so an endoscopy, but this as an OGD and polypectomy, I've been having polyps removed for some years now, usually un sedated, but this time he wanted to check my small intestine as well, hence a longer op and a general anaesthetic. Yes they do send the bits away for testing, especially as I have already had on aggressive tumour removed from a kidney, they seem to being very thorough.

Ah, I thought Mick @skipepsi was talking about cleaning the oven roof, sides etc.  I too use liners both paper and silicone for the basket and they are certainly the dog's whatsits for collecting surplus oil/fat.

Appliance cleaning duties dealt with, just waiting for the washing machine to do a final rinse.  Brownie points have been added to my stash.

Steve brought his car round to park for the week and Abbie visited as well to see us and also to ferry him back home which saved me a job.  They've only just gone, we spent an enjoyable couple of hours chatting which means that I still haven't got down to The Shed.  Muggatea time shortly and maybe some biscuits, then I might get a round tuit.

Then humongous amounts of gash dross jobs done - all very productive & needed doing, haven't been this busy at Bear Towers for a while now and feel like I've actually achieved things, which is rather good.  Big Tick.

I've also prepared the advert for Harry the Honda 😢 - though it's not live yet as I want to time it right for (hopefully) the most interest and best price.  Paws crossed....

 

I've also just ordered ratheralotta M6 repair washers, screws and split washers for a rather important fixit job on one of the big vans at the Warehouse - that van is now on restricted duties until the bits turn up and Bear fixes it.  Should be worth a Donut or three I reckon....

We are home now. We decided we really ought to visit one of the National Trust properties in South Essex (though it is London Borough of Havering now). It is a property with no car parking .So we drove to Lakeside, parked, walked through the new M&S Food Hall and out to the bus station and got on a red bus(Service 372 for bus fans) to Rainham Hall . Interesting house, nice gardens, pleasant snack in sunshine and back to Lakeside to get home by 3.30.

Weekend start with a busy Saturday as we're headed 80 minutes north for a memorial service early afternoon, followed by a party hosted by friends from choir late afternoon/evening.

Sunday nothing planed yet, however, one of the back garden security lights is on the blink (LITERALLY) and needs replacing, so that'll be one Sunday to-do item.

 

Weather delightful this AM, 13c and sunn7y, 23c the high with no clouds all day. Possibly some light showers tomorrow, but overall, a good-looking weekend ahead.

Yesterdays trip to for hospital consultation was successful with both a Plan A and a Plan B identified.   In this case Plan B was selected and will be implemented in the next couple of weeks so that's a tick from me!

 

Today we have another celebration of an event that occurred almost 4.5 decades ago.  Amazing, where did the time (and the hair and the good looks go)!       We had a celebratory hoof up Pegsdon Hills this morning giving the Trig Point a friendly pat as we past it.    We'll be going out later to our current favourite pub/restaurant for dinner.   Good nosh and no washing up; what's not to like?

A quiet day again.  I took down the kitchen curtains and cleaned the rails and other bits and put the old curtains in the garage ready for the bin - it is all they are really fit for.  The man from Plumbs came on time with the new curtains and spent a long time putting them up and getting them to hang properly.  I am pleased with them.

 

By then it was nearly lunchtime, a Bird'e Eye frozen chicken pie quickly done in the oven.

 

I spent the afternoon asleep as I am still very tired but feel a lot better.

 

Today I have no temperature which is good, it was 35°C when I got up, it is now 36°C.  I know that 35°C is very low but that is just me and I suspect that the digital thermometer reads a little bit lower than my old mercury one.  My GP has commented on my rather low temperature before.

Surplus oil and fat, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that sounds delicious. We gave our air fryer away, really don't like fried food, prefer grilled stuff these days, or barbequed if it's a nice day.

Still, the local area can support another 4000-5000 houses with ease I'm sure, oh no it can't because it can't support what it's got already!   (e.g. GP surgery designed for ~2500 patients now has over 5000, roads falling to pieces, water mains regularly bursting all over the place etc etc).

Bear has successfully disposed of four 5L fuel containers via Freegle - they've gone to two separate, happy people that didn't bvgger Bear about or waste my time with non collection.  Definitely a Tick, as it's made more room inside the Beary sh*d.

I have yet to see the two reviews I know are coming. Both are due in print next week. 
 

What I do know is that one of them has used the term “a magnificent effort” in the context of sourcing, collating, correcting and presenting often vague or contradictory source material and publishing a single source of reference for the subject.

Patch painted the (*&^%$&^ lounge and bathroom............as there was no racing!  It was dry this morning but they decided to start after lunch - when it was clear by the rainfall radar it would rain - and it did.  Seriously?  Don't they check these things? /rant. #sigh#  No, more rant follows:-

 

Ah well that's another TT almost over, one of the most disappointing from our point of view, poor weather, delayed racing, very busy but notably poorer trade support.  The 'official' merchandise was given to a new contractor last year, and it was dire - appeared to have been designed by 'designers' that did not understand bikers and the TT, looked more like car gear and was expensive but poor quality. Also the colours that are linked to the posters and general 'look' for a few years were badly chosen, the pale blue and orange of what I recall as Gulf petroleum racing - cars though......not bikes.

 

They were sacked and new ones this time produced....much the same, same colour palette (kind of locked in to that now for a couple of years because of the posters etc) but a little cheaper and a little better quality.  They clicked on that we want the year, some bike references etc a bit.....  But - they ran out of a lot of stuff, because they did not anticipate the volume of sales.  Not hard to work it out as the Steam Packet will tell you how many they expect through ticket sales, and most folk will buy at least one item. Oh, 38,000 people as you ask, plus however many flew in.  AKA a lot, more than any year since the 80's other than the centenary year (2008).  Words fail me, couldn't organise one in a brewery. This is what happens when non-biker types design things for a market they have not researched or do not understand.  I can only hope they actually came over here for the festival and saw what it is about and how things are.

 

The local producers of apparel can't use the TT logos and initials as they are trademarked, but they have sold heaps of T shirts and hoodies as they have images and styles bikers like - be it old or contemporary.

In other news. 
 

Dr SWMBO arrived this afternoon. Her trip from the Big Smoke was largely uneventful but on very busy trains. As hers had become a Newquay service for the summer timetable she (and several hundred others) were obliged to change at Plymouth onto a local train. Leaving perhaps 15 passengers on the Newquay one. 
 

As the London train had been delayed slightly by congestion around Westbury and Castle Cary so too the connecting train, which was held the few minutes to ensure it did connect, pulled into Penzance a bit late. 
 

Officially 14 minutes and 59 seconds behind time.

 

One more second and she could have claimed a 12.5% Delay Repay refund. One second. Grrr. Lines have to be drawn somewhere. And hers is one second on the side of “late but no compensation”.
