An ideal day to venture out for some ear-lowering.  I'll make the effort once the skool run has terminated and the roads are relatively clear of insane lemmings dashing hither and thither.

Hey-ho.

Not following 'official' advice then ie. to not travel as it's raining and your car might get wet.

The one that thinks that the working population of this septic isle can a) all work from home; b) children don't have to go to school and c) money grows on trees.  That one.

Good morning everyone

We got back from Chatsworth House a lot later than planned yesterday, so I didn’t get chance to catch up or post last night, anyway, all caught up and rated now. We had a great day, the weather was a bit overcast and the temperature was mild (cold according to Sheila) but perfect for walking etc. we spent quite a bit of time sitting around drinking tea and eating cake,  it what’s wrong with that? We did have a couple of good walks round the gardens too, we clocked up about 5 miles altogether.

Today’s weather is totally different, as it’s raining, so I’ll be inside today, either the cellar or the workshop.

Back later.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. A good nights sleep last night, 5 + 2 hours. Again no input from bladder control or Arthur Itis just woke up naturally, the first time was one look at the clock, turn over and back to sleep again. I was advised by the practice nurse not to take Nurofen on a regular basis, I'm not sure if that is the reason for better nights or whether it is the prostate medication, dutasteride.

You'll need to narrow it down, that's pretty much the entire political establishment.

T'was never one for "Meaningless songs in very high voices".

They did go to the same primary school as a University classmate, which is less than 3km by streets* from the Golden Circle cannery that used to put your beetroot in tins until the Kiwis got a hold of it.

* 1,500 m as the crow flies.

Got their first 'job' at the local speedway.

I went to see the HeeBee Geebees when they toured here in about 1985,6 or 7 - I don't  remember exactly.

They played a gig at a nearby Rugby League club*, my memory of the night is that the audience was divided into those who knew what the HeeBee Geebees were about and had come to see them, and confused locals and club members    who kept booing the songs because they weren't a Bee Gees cover band like they had been expecting.

*Rugby Leagues clubs (usually called the "Leagues"  as in "just going down the Leagues for tea.." ) are massive entertainment venues fueled by rivers of gold from poker machine takings. In the case of those teams that are in the national NRL,   multi-million dollar stadiums are usually attached. They offer subsidised food (eg fish and chips or 250g steak and salad) for £7 equivalent and all have a huge gaming room filled to the brim with poker machines. They invariably have an auditorium for bands or celebrity events and the  larger ones have additional attractions to get the whole family to come down and spend money.

For instance Penrith Panthers in Western Sydney has a huge hotel, Aqua Golf,  and one of those parachute things where a massive fan blows upwards and you float above it in a squirrel suit or whatever its called.

The Bee Gees heralded in an era of tight high-waisted  pants and high pitched squeaky voices.

A grateful Queensland government, thankful that at last Queensland attributes were being recognised,  commissioned    a 70m long "Bee Gees Way" which has both a statue of the Bee Gees when they were little ten pound poms:

And another down the other end when they were all famous and on cocaine.

Other famous Queenslanders that have statues of them on display  include King Wally Lewis, a famous Maroons Rugby League player who had a sideline in promoting aerosol tins of fake hair that you sprayed on your bald bits

and Kev, the Big Cassowary of Mission Beach.

and to think BR (S) did its best to reduce the recording output of the Bee Gees in  1967.

I'm going to have to google that I'm afraid - the only thing I know about British Railways in the 60's was the Great Train Robbery and I'm thinking they weren't involved in that.

OK - A train crash.  My one Bee Gees guilty pleasure is " And Specks" which they released in 1966 so at least that would have still been around if the worst had happened.

Edit: LOL at the lame nanny not letting me use the word Sp!cks!"

If I had to think up local songs to slash my wrists by, maybe some of Nick Caves work with the Birthday Party,?   I can't think of many others, I guess its hard to write dreary songs when the sun is shining and the beach is not far away.

I always find that most so called depressing music is actually uplifting, even if you get there by realising that you don't feel as bad as the singer. The Cure's "Siamese Twins" off their "Pornography" album is one such track, a favourite of mine.  Pretty depressing lyrics but hey!

I always thought that Nick Cave had too much of a wicked sense of humour to be truly wrist slashing but then I remembered "Girl in Amber" and that's tough to take.

It's been raining here but mainly light showers, not the heavy stuff forecast..yet.

This morning's list has been completed to the satisfaction of Herself and my ears have been lowered with hair now at the regulation length of 0.5mm.  I feel quite light headed and also a bit colder, it's surprising what a difference 9.5 mm makes!    From 👨‍🦰(well not quite) to 👨‍🦲   😂

Possibly. Here its Melbourne that seems to have the most shoe-gazing bands per capita, possibly also meteorologically related.

Sydney and Brisbane bands in comparison generally have  a sunnier disposition, and in the outback and the NT the indigenous bands are the happiest groups you'll ever meet, and their kids are as cute as you'll see anywhere!
