Unfiltered, gluten free beer seemed to be a “thing” when we were in the French Alps last year. At least the beer wasn’t garnished with alpine flowers which seemed to be fashionable with the food. 13

We could send you there... Tasmainia and Norfolk Island are the two obvious ones. Both were sites of secondary punishment and both are incredibly scenic. Tasmania is my second favourite state after NSW and I've spent more time there than anywhere else, even including work trips to the northern states where our defence bases are. Tassie slideshow: I loved the thinking behind this lookout. The locals obviously realised that this position gave a great view of Mt Whateveritwas, but figured that if they built an elevated viewing platform we'd be able to get an even better view. Over on the East Coast is the Freycinet Peninsula, this is WineGlass Bay, though from this angle you cant see the wineglass shape. Its remote and suitably beautiful though. Some parts of Tassie do have an uncanny knack of looking like what we imagine England looks like, if England had kangaroos snakes and spiders. If chocolate comes from a chocolate factory, and cars come from a car factory, where do females come from?.... I found the button that starts up the female factory and this one popped out. . Turns out it comes with no instructions, warranty or return policy. Edited May 9 by monkeysarefun 20
Ian Abel
BIN day... wait WHAT?!@?!?! Starting Monday AM panic and more work than I really want to deal with at the Long Island client, has kept me busy and at times VERY annoyed all week so far. Today the IT director p!ssed me off with a short missive erroneously targeting me for not spotting something I'm not responsible for. VERY LONG NASTYGRAM replied to her, cced to the Finance director so they understand the level of my displeasure - I dare her (IT eejut) to reply, I'll be waiting 😝🤪🤬 Way to far from last weekend to recount it and bore everyone, it was a good one though. Tonight last rehearsal for the schola for our Pentecost performance two Sundays from now. Will have various pre and post celebratory comestibles. Plenty of rain the past few days but 10c at BIN time and sunny, with 16c the high and a sunny entire day forecast. Carry on. 7
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted May 9 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 9 I was the first to arrive at church today so unlocked and got things ready, then others turned up who had things to do. Fortunately I had taken a copy of the readings, collect and closing prayer with me as no one else involved in the service had. All went well though and there was nice coffee and biscuits afterwards. Shortly after I got home the post came followed about 5 minutes later by a parcel via Royal Mail from a shop in Sheffield with 3 boxes on wheels, the wheels being set 32mm apart. They were at a very good price, not much more than much smaller versions of the same things. After a good macaroni cheese for lunch I scanned some more old prints. I received an e mail from the Salvation Army about my great great Uncle, the dates and his name and his wife's maiden name all fit so I think I have got the right man for the family tree. The only thing is that his wife's first name is not quite right but the name they have is a diminutive of what I think her real name is. He really did work for them in Nigeria in the 1920s, there are records of him leaving and returning to Britain on dates which seem right. Sometime I will have to get in touch with them again as my mother's side of the family were also involved with them at an earlier date and I have found a photo of someone in his uniform. Then I had a look at the photos still to scan - a pile of albums a bit over 18" high from 1953 and earlier and a second pile of albums about 10" high from about 1950 and later. Finally yet another pile of papers and abums nearly 12" high containing more photos, newpaper cuttings and other documents. I may be busy for some time. Once again some photos go back to the 1860/70s. I planted some begonias in clay pots in the greenhouse as they are really indoor varieties and had a tidy up in the garden. Now why I am feeling weary? Tea tonight will be prawns with bread and butter for a change and then a quiet evening. David

RMweb Premium polybear Posted May 9 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 9 Bear here..... Warehouse again - all good stuff, though I did have to attend the compulsory "Manual Handling Course" so a Tick could be put in the right box.....'elf n' sayeftee n' all that. Nothing to do with Litigation Avoidance of course.... I did spot there were two Donuts still left over from yesterday.....one disappeared during the day (and not at the paws of Bear, amazingly); I resisted all day...and it was still safe n' sound at 3pm so Bear decided that once we were back from our last run (which was slightly later than usual, meaning that 99% of the Warehouse Staff had gone home by the time we got back) I'd rescue it and take it home for Bear's Tea. Guess what? Someone snaffled it 😭 Rattin' Piggin' Turdycurses. ION..... Apparently Wandsworth Prison is overrun with Vermin. Yep, they're called Prisoners..... If oval or tending to slit shaped then beware. 1 12
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 9 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 9 Well it was a lovely day in the northern reaches of the rock, 19c at one point, so a little ride out for a brew in Laxey was had apres lunch after all, having survived the Big City and getting my new glasses. My wallet didn't survive the experience though. Pah. Then watching the tellynews the local BBC type this evening, the Manutopia based weather gurl said it had been 10c and miserably foggy here. Well, maybe down t'other end where the airyport (and therefore Met office) is possibly, but we're 30 miles from that and it was glorious. It was all a bit of a throw-away 'oh it's miserable there' which was not reflective of the day really. Mini rant. 16

I had an adder crawl across my bare legs one time. I was relaxing on a rocky clifftop enjoying sun above, sea and surf below and idling my life away when I felt something crawling onto my leg. Thinking it might be an insect of some sort I glanced lazily down and to my great surprise there was an adder making its way across me. I think I was more concerned about wearing shorts than being bitten though it wasn’t anywhere near the vitals. I had the presence of mind to stay calm and it slithered on its way quite unconcerned. In all my 17 years in Australia I only ever saw two snakes. Both Brown Snakes and both snaking lazily across roads on hot sunny days. I was in the car on both occasions so wasn’t at all bothered. And they were not bothered by me because I was able to stop and let them go on their way.
