Mooring Awl,

4 hours sleep, short awake, 2 hours sleep. Not prompted by Ben the tired Collie.

 

I took have increasingly seen the message along with increasingly seeing pages freeze grey and the circle of wait.

Quite often opening another page will prompt the first to awake. This is on an Android tablet.

 

In took Ben out on patrol he was happy, but not running around, just strolling. , Ben is due a visit to the vet when his current batch of pills is finished, so that's in less than a month...

 

Low tide today is around about 11:00 which means not a lot as we are sailing on the broad today where while the water level goes up and down a foot unless you are near the broad entrance there's no tide.

 

The wind is easterly 15 to 24 mph , just about perfect, and straight down the length of the broad, so course setting should be easy.

 

Being on the broad is also good for testing BM if it goes all wrong....

 

If all goes well there is a down river race tomorrow then the tide is important..

Bear has noticed that refreshing ER'ers often/usually takes. well, oodles of time; I have noticed that if one of those natty little popup bars appears at the bottom of the screen informing a Certain Bear that @iL Dottore has replied to the thread with yet more biased propaganda warning against the imaginary perils of scoffin' Cake, Pizza, Curly Fries and Baked Beans then if I click on that bar (Oh WHY do I do that?? ) then the page will refresh (or at least that new post appears) straight away.  This might be a clue to clever people like @Andy Y - or it might just be total cobblers, which is far more likely.

Dump the projection clock!   It's just a gadget and it's one that  exacerbates a problem.

This afternoon I started painting the weather vane.    Can't get on with the nice shiny new tin of paint at all!     The only good thing that can be said about it is that it seems to dry a lot quicker than I recall.    As for ease of application and finish on wire-brushed but rusty, dry and clean surfaces - Hopeless!      

 

Dunno about Smoothrite as I usually use Hammerite, but yes, it is cr@p compared to how it used to be.  IIRC it's now owned by some bunch called ICI who've really, really bvggered it up.

Bear's Tip of the Day:

If you ever come across a tin of Hammerite made by a certain Mr Finnigan then snaffle it asap and save it for those best projects, cos' it really does do what it says on the tin.

A good night's sleep has been had for the first time in ages so I woke feeling a lot better and more alert.  Perhaps changing the clocks does me good?

 

I am now doing the usal Sunday e mails and will shortly start on the phone calls then I'll be off to church for the Easter Sunday service - I have to remember to take the sheet with the final prayer on as it is my turn today as well as serving.

 

As it is the last day of the month I will do my accounts later in the day, hopefully they will balance first time.

 

Then I will hope to simply enjoy the rest of the day.

 

I am reassured that others are experiencing the slow periods on RMWeb, especially this thread as well as me.  I thought it was something I was doing.

@polybear  Haven't you got an echo dot? All you have to do is mumble "alexa time" at it to get the current time, projection clocks not needed!

 

I woke at 8am BST.

 

I slept through my echo dot playing music at me and the bedside light automatically switching on at 7am.

 

I think it was them switching OFF at 8 that did the trick...

Echo Dot?  Bear's got five of them - plus a Food of the Gods** - sized spare one in the cupboard.  The one on the ceiling comes in handy when I can't be bothered to mumble at 3am, whilst Alexa comes in handy when I don't want to roll over to see the ceiling clock.  Sorted.

Morning, from a time-warped rock where it is breezy, sunny and 11c.  The NHN's are grumpy, sore and tired after yesterday's exertions, and the apparent slippage of time.  Donk's asleep on the back of my chair as usual, Dronk is in an alcoholic coma in the spare room, also as usual.  I blame D!sney for commercialising  the whole Pooh thing, the fame goes to their heads.  iD's ministrations would be better aimed at the cause not the symptoms.....stop said organisation ruining ER's children's stories.

 

I think a bimble out on bikes is once again on the cards, tomorrow looks as if it is going to be wet off and on so maybe a ride on something green and chuffy beckons for that.

Morning all from Estuary-Land.  Only one callout from bladder control last night and in total about seven six hours sleep. Then I spent another couple of hours napping. Haven't had breakfast yet so it's going to be brunch before I venture out into the garden (hay fever permitting).

Imaginary? Hardly.

Of particular relevance to many on ER is the association of UPF with Type II Diabetes and with Depression.

 

There’s nothing wrong with cake, pizza, french fries, baked beans if made from real/fresh/unprocessed ingredients and eaten in moderation.
 

There’s now so much evidence about the deleterious effects of UPF, that denying that UPF is a problem is up there with CoVID denial and those who claim that cigarettes are not linked to lung cancer.

A quick look in before I head out to the garden to get a few jobs done. I recently bought one of those small pop up greenhouses, so that's one job I want to do. Not only does it free up space in the cellar, it'll be useful too! I also want to put a few more plans as well.

I had one of those clockwork radios, it stopped working after a while...
