RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted March 2 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 2 Evening all from Estuary-Land. When I had the sound scan today I asked about the kidney stone and I was told that it's tucked away in a corner where it can do no harm. The antibiotics have done their job and the waterworks are flowing normally with no sign of blood. Now just a consultation with my GP next week when he gets the results.

The internet obliges. There was nothing that he did that was not controversial dragging South Australia out of the long dark ages of the Bob Menzies era. Quote Dunstan's socially progressive administration saw Aboriginal land rights recognised, homosexuality decriminalised, the first female judge (Dame Roma Mitchell) appointed, the first non-British governor, Sir Mark Oliphant, and later the first Indigenous governor, Sir Douglas Nicholls. He enacted consumer protection laws, reformed and expanded the public education and health systems, abolished the death penalty, relaxed censorship and drinking laws, created a ministry for the environment, enacted anti-discrimination law, and implemented electoral reforms such as the overhaul of the Legislative Council, the upper house of Parliament, lowered the voting age to 18, enacted universal suffrage, and completely abolished malapportionment. He also established Rundle Mall, enacted measures to protect buildings of historical heritage, and encouraging arts, with support for the Adelaide Festival Centre, the State Theatre Company, and the establishment of the South Australian Film Corporation. I well remember cricket commentators complaining about the 'hideous' Festival Centre - being located adjacent (across the Torrens) to the Adelaide oval. 10

RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted March 2 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 2 ' evening all from red dragon land. Warmer out than it was this morning 3.0C. Not that I am going anywhere. Two sessions of toot on the flute by the fireside this afternoon, either side of lunch. On Line 2, I was struggling big time to keep beat at the prescribed 36bpm. Not much better the second time but I did manage a couple of rounds of the line sort of on the beat. Break the notes of the beat (crochet) down to a quarter (semiquavers), and add some twiddly bits in between and it feels like I am racing round trying to keep up with the F1 teams. At least I am not getting quite as puffed out as I was a week ago! Time for mugadecaf, then a quick toot (enjoyment session!) before watching whatever is on tv at 9 of the clock.

Given their background, transplanted Scots in Oz - yes. Angus was eight when they moved from Glasgow to Sydney. Quote Prompted by the worst winter on record in Scotland and TV advertisements offering assisted travel for families to immigrate to Australia, the Youngs flew from Scotland to Sydney, Australia, in late June 1963.[ 10 1

When we have been on cruises we have noticed a complete refusal of most US passengers to eat any sort of local food on shore, Equally they wil usually refuse to use local public transport and only used the ship organised Tours. Beth and I had some lovely barvpbecued chicken at a roadside stall in New Caledonia. It helped that we could speak easily with the locals. No one else from the ship joined us. Popular Post Ozexpatriate
When I awoke this morning (having slept in to catch up on some sleep) it was snowing. The possibility of snow was forecast, but as forecast it didn't last long. As temperatures were above freezing, the full melt was on as soon as the snow showers passed. Some hours later light rain is falling. Snowflakes were big and wet and it was nice to see them. I haven't seen snow all season. Many variations on the theme of frozen precipitation - sleet, hail, freezing rain, 'wintry mix' etc but these were the first nice big snowflakes. I started my walk in the snow but it didn't last too long. The handful of daffodils whose buds had burst open looked disheveled and bedraggled in the snow. Most are not even showing buds. I did see some buds on some ornamental cherry trees with a very small number of flowers. Perhaps they will be more in evidence a week or so from now. Spring has not sprung here just yet.

They are not very well (if at all regulated). I found this out years ago, the loco raced off at high speed and never worked again. Perhaps I was very unlucky but I am not making that mistake again. I have a couple of bench type variable voltage DC supplies that don’t harm decoder fitted locos. When Bear worked in Kuwait we had to follow this convention. 4 4
